Our EcoHomes Action for May is to Green Up your Travel with Alternative Transportation

Driving less or replacing some of our driving with alternative forms of transportation not only keeps our hard-earned dollars from going into your fuel tank, it is also an important climate solution!

Check out our May EcoHomes Blog (link in comments ⬇️) for tips for traveling green, including:
* Starting with the short trips
* Earning rewards from Go Maine for reducing your vehicle miles traveled
* Taking the Train or Bus to around
* Helping plan for a future where Freeport is friendlier for bikes and pedestrians

How you are reducing your own VMT. Are you already carpooling? Walking your kids to school? If cutting back on car travel is new for you, what one action do you plan to put into place? Comment below or send us a message!

The Waste-Wise Freeport forum on Wednesday 5/6 was a big success! Lots of people came out in the rain to learn about how our waste habits are costing us in so many ways. Our wonderful panel of speakers shed light on topics from our local taxes to state-wide policies to reduce waste. The audience was engaged, and the resource tables were hopping with visitors. And everyone enjoyed the delicious pizza from Maine Beer Company!

Thank you so much to all the great organizations that made this event possible, and are working hard to give us a better community and planet!

Our March EcoHomes Action: Reduce Your Electricity Use

When it comes to talking about climate solutions, a lot of focus is placed on electrification and replacing energy from fossil fuels with renewable energy sources. We don’t hear as much about reducing energy use. Therefore, we wanted to focus this month’s EcoHomes blog on some of the simple things we can do to cut down on our monthly electricity use — and as a result, our electric bills!

To learn more about how you can save electricity, check out the full blog, linked in the comments.
