Tomorrow (10/10) will be a busy and exciting day for WAIF as we host our first-ever low-cost spay/neuter clinic for qualified-income cat owners! To help mitigate traffic congestion, WAIF will be closed for animal viewing and adoptions tomorrow only, with hours resuming on Sunday, October 11th.

We are extremely thankful for the Pasado's Safe Haven professional veterinary team who have come from all over the Puget Sound area to help make this clinic happen. We are also grateful for the ASPCA grant we received to make this clinic a reality. This is a big deal as we expect nearly 80 cats to be spayed or neutered!

If you are one of the nearly 80 who registered for the clinic, please note that you may not enter the shelter entrance from SR 20. A map is in the comments showing entry off Patmore Road through the Rhododendron Park County entrance. Normally closed, we have been allowed temporary access in order to alleviate traffic backups on SR 20.

Round Up for WAIF is happening right now through the month of October! Funds raised will support WAIF's stray and surrendered four-legged friends while they wait for forever, loving homes. Donations support WAIF's animal welfare programs, including daily nutrition, shelter, veterinary care, and enrichment.

Be sure to ask your favorite Goose cashier at The Goose Community Grocer to Round Up for WAIF!

Molly's $21 adoption fee is still going strong through September 30th for both cats and dogs. This film seems to have inspired the adoption of black cats!

View the trailer in the comments.

For generations, black cats have spent far longer waiting in shelters due to persistent myths and outdated superstitions, but a celebrated animated feature is helping turn the tide. The acclaimed film Flow, which stars an expressive black cat navigating a changing world, has sparked a noticeable wave of adoptions across multiple countries as audiences fall in love with the protagonist’s quiet courage and resilience.

Shelter staff report that the movie's emotional impact is directly inspiring visitors to look past old stereotypes and welcome black felines into their homes. It is a powerful testament to how impactful storytelling can reshape public perception and open up bright new beginnings for animals in need. Have you ever shared your home with a black cat or witnessed a piece of media inspire positive animal adoptions?
