Kicking Gas We aim to help Whidbey Island, Snohomish County, and Bainbridge Island homes make the switch from fossil fuels to electric!

Kicking Gas is on a mission to convert 100 homes on South Whidbey from propane, oil, or wood to ductless heat pumps by July 2023! Join one of our monthly info sessions to learn more about how you can support the campaign and the community.

We're so proud of The Energize Langley Resilient Microgrids campaign! 🙌

Power outages are nothing new for Langley and South Whidbey residents. Many know where to find gas-powered generators when the lights go out. But to fully transition off fossil fuels, our community must move toward sustainable, local energy sources.
Microgrids powered by on-site solar panels and battery backups can continue delivering electricity even when roads are impassable, and fuel is scarce—offering a cleaner, more reliable solution in times of need.

Do you live in Marysville, Darrington, or Lynnwood and currently rely on combustion appliances?

Kicking Gas is proud to offer subsidies to switch to electric! NOW is the time to make the transition from propane, wood, oil, or "natural" gas, as monetary incentives may soon disappear.

Some reasons to utilize heat pumps (and save up to 75% on the cost to do so!):

- Get energy-efficient heating AND cooling, plus filtration for healthier air year-round

- Save long-term costs with lower energy bills, and ditch the expensive propane tank rentals

- Propane, kerosene, and wood appliances emit harmful pollutants that pose health risks to inhabitants

- Take one of the biggest steps to reduce your home's carbon footprint

Some reasons to utilize electric & induction stoves (and save up to $1,000 on the cost to do so!):

- Faster cooking with precise temperature control

- Improved indoor air quality and enhanced safety: studies show gas stoves leak methane, a potent greenhouse gas, even when turned off; plus no open flame

- Easier cleanup

- Like with heat pumps, increase energy efficiency for a better planet and happier wallets

If this sounds appealing to you, join us this Wed, December 3rd at 6:30pm PST for a virtual info session, a requirement to qualify for your subsidies!

This year, our communities took bold steps toward a just, livable future.

Through For The People’s fiscal sponsorship, the Kicking Gas Campaign helped hundreds of Washingtonians replace polluting gas systems with safe, affordable electric options and showed what’s possible when we follow the leadership of youth and organize for collective care.

Our work is far from finished. The federal government shutdown has delayed, and put at risk, funding for several of our programs, creating uncertainty in our timeline. We’re grateful for strong Washington State leadership, which helps us continue this work as we remain committed to serving our communities throughout this disruption. We're looking to raise at least $60,000 by the end of the year to continue our pivotal work!

Tickets for the event are on a sliding scale, available on the For The People website. Please choose tickets at a level that is comfortable for you. No one will be turned away for lack of funds.

Bring a friend! The more people who hear about this work, the stronger we become. You may purchase additional tickets at any level for your guests.

Tickets and more info here: https://www.kickgasnow.org/events/tending-the-grassroots-for-the-people-annual-fundraiser

Food will be brought to you by Rocket Taco, and an exciting dessert dash will be part of the festivities! Bring your own to-go container if you'd like to take home leftovers.

We'll see you on November 22nd at Freeland Hall!
