Members of Local F-61 recently took part in annual live burn training alongside our fellow firefighters from IAFF Local F-147 at the Monmouth County Fire Academy.

It was a productive day with excellent fire conditions, and as always, it was a privilege to train alongside such a dedicated neighboring local.

Proud to continue building our skills and strengthening regional partnerships.

Today, we had the privilege of hosting a lunch with members of the Philadelphia Fire Department, including the honor of having Fire Commissioner Thompson in attendance. It was a great opportunity to share a table and strengthen the bonds between our departments.

A special thank you to Engine 49/Medic 11 for being great house guests while working/living alongside us—we appreciate your professionalism and camaraderie.

The fire service is built on mutual support, and today was another reminder of the strong connections we share.

District Leaders,

It is with profound sadness that we share the passing of Brother Roy Colbrunn, a cherished member of IAFF Local F-88 at Wright Patterson AFB, Ohio. Brother Colbrunn succumbed today after a cardiac incident on December 28th.

Brother Colbrunn dedicated over 21 years to our union, serving as both a Service Representative and a District Field Service Representative in the 16th District. He was not only a trusted colleague but also a great friend. His unwavering commitment to the International Association of Fire Fighters and its members across the country is something we could all learn from. He was an extraordinary individual who made a significant impact on the lives of many. His knowledge, dedication, and camaraderie will be deeply missed by all who knew him.

Please join me in keeping his wife, LuAnn, daughter Kaleena, and their entire family in your thoughts and prayers during this difficult time.

We will post more information as it becomes available. In the mean time feel free to share some of your Tank stories. I am sure LuAnn and family would love to experience your memories, even though I am sure Tank has told some of them many of times.

Great News for Our Members who retired under the CSRS System. The Senate has passed, and President Biden will sign the Social Security Fairness Act (H.R. 82) – bipartisan legislation to repeal the Windfall Elimination Provision (WEP) and Government Pension Offset (GPO). For over 40 years, our Members have been denied the full Social Security that they have earned. Now, your Social Security will be re-calibrated to pay you the full amount that is owed to you.
At this time, we don’t know exactly when this will kick in, however as information is received, we will get it out. And yes, the IAFF was the PRIME mover behind this legislation, they worked on both sides of the Aisle to get the support, and signers to make this happen. It is a proud day for the IAFF and all of our Members who worked so hard to make this legislation happen.
