Woods county commissioners are issuing a 14 day burn ban for all of Woods County, we ask the public to please adhere to these rules and regulations for the safety of all of Woods County.

6/17/26 6:00pm : Wildfire in Woods county, 8 miles Northwest of Waynoka, is still out of control. The rough terrain and thick vegetation along the Cimarron River is making it a very difficult job.

Today at around 5 PM Freedom Fire Department was dispatched to a large grass fire a mile east of Anderson Creek  on the north side of Highway 64 we received mutual aid from Alva, Greenleaf, and Waynoka. The fire was knocked down and under control in about 3 hours  thanks to all Woods County firefighters and first responders.
