Sorry for the late post on the delivery of campers over the end of last week. We left later in the day Thursday evening and headed South. Everything was going good till we got into Indiana. When we hit something in the road. When this happened we noticed large rocks 6-8” diameter was on the side of the road we were on. It was late at night and a lot of traffic and there wasn’t a safe area to pull off until later in the night when we stopped to get fuel about a hour north of Indianapolis. We did a walk around and noticed the wheel and tire came off from the studs breaking on the drivers side front axle. At this time, all parts stores were long closed and would have to wait till the morning to get parts. If anyone knows me, I just want to get things done and don’t want to wait around till morning as we were under a tight schedule. I felt the tire on the rear axle (the same side as the wheel that fell off) and it felt just fine as far as not being hot from too much of a load. We moved forward. We made it to Lexington Kentucky where I pulled off to check everything again. I then noticed that the rear bumper was in bad shape from the Less than average road conditions, mostly potholes. At this point it was 3AM on Friday and we are calling around truck repair places and mobile welding places. I was able to find a gentleman about 30 minutes East of Lexington to weld up the bumper. I dropped off the popup in a parking lot off the freeway and headed with the other camper to the welding guy. During this time I had been in contact with our contacts in North Carolina. Without hesitation Rob and Chris from Blue Collar Relief and Drifter Ministries decided they were going to send up a truck to get the popup camper in case the rear bumper couldn’t be fixed and I could only tow the one camper the rest of the way. It took the welding guy about 3.5 hours to fix the bumper. I went back to Lexington to hook up to the popup camper and then decided to fix the studs and put the spare tire and wheel back on the front axle. After 4 different part stores all over Lexington, I found the parts that I was able to use to get this train rolling again. We drove another couple hours with both campers till we got into Tennessee and met up with Rob. He Hooked up to popup camper and drove it back to North Carolina the rest of the way with me following him. Saturday, Superman Ross and his crew came down with the 3rd camper and didn’t have any complications.
We were trying to figure out if we should post this or not but we feel like we need to give full transparency of things that happen, good or bad. Not all trips go smoothly and this was probably the worst one yet. It doesn’t stop us, it makes us stronger! We came together in the time of need and we got three more homes delivered over the weekend. Huge shoutout to Chris, Rob, and Ross for the help!!
With all the bad situations that happened we didn’t get to drop off the campers till 8 hours after our target drop off time.
God had other plans. At the end of the day, we are all here, we are all safe, and we are all still helping others!!
Colton got to our other destination in South Carolina really late Friday. We hung out Saturday in Myrtle Beach with friends that moved down there checking out a few attractions. We couldn’t do much because it was cold and rainy pretty much the whole day. We left late Saturday night from SC to come back home. Thanks for the support and God Bless!!
