Happy May!! At both fridge locations we have added plastic bag collectors, which community members can take from to pick up their groceries from the fridge. Please feel free to donate your unused plastic bags at any time. Remember, plastic bags from the grocery store cannot be recycled, so this is a spectacular way to get more function out of single use plastics.

HAVE YOU HEARD THE NEWS?!?!

We’re excited to share that Downtown Greens has signed a Memorandum of Understanding with FXBG Free Fridge & Food Rescue to begin operating and maintaining the Free Fridge in our Upper Garden.

Through this partnership, FXBG Free Fridge & Food Rescue will handle regular maintenance and cleaning, conduct food safety checks, and ensure the fridge, pantry, and structure stay in good condition. They’ll also take care of any needed repairs or replacements at their own expense.

We’re incredibly grateful for their willingness to take this on and help keep this important community resource running smoothly. Their commitment to food access and mutual aid makes a real difference.

And we’d also like to give them a big thank you for supporting our work as a sponsor of the 2026 Down Home Ball. We appreciate you and are excited for what’s ahead!

The fridge is back!!! We pulled the fridge inside due to malfunctioning at extremely low temperatures but now that thing are warming up, it’s back!
