What a fun day we had with Healthy Families Rappahannock Area bringing farm fresh veggies through our Farm to Pantry program to the June playgroup for families to take home 🥦 ❤️

Thank you so much to the The Community Foundation of the Rappahannock River Region Women and Girls Fund for the opportunity to once again be a finalist this year alongside such incredible organizations doing important work in our region.

While we were not selected for the grant this year, we left the Live Ballot event feeling encouraged by the support, kind words, and new connections made throughout the evening. We are especially grateful to everyone who took the time to learn more about our Farm to Pantry program and our work to connect fresh, healthy food to community members across our region.

Congratulations to Healthy Families Rappahannock Area on being selected as this year’s recipient — and thank you for the important work you do to support mothers and families in our community.

One line from our speech seemed to resonate throughout the room, and we believe it wholeheartedly:

“There are no losers in a room full of people working to ensure that women and girls are healthier, safer, nourished, and supported.”

Relationships are at the heart of fresh food access ❤️ When Ruth Landry Stone asked VCFC if we could help provide fresh greens for the UUFF April community meal, we weren’t quite able to purchase from local farmers just yet in the season. So over the weekend we reached out to Rich Larochelle to see if the Rappahannock Education Farm might have some green vegetables 🥬 to complete the meal! Because of so many wonderful people, especially the middle schoolers and their teachers who harvested and volunteers who turned that harvest into a delicious spinach salad - so many neighbors had a nutritious meal last night ❤️
