🐾 Get Ready for the AKC Temperament Test (ATT)! 🐾

Are you planning to enter the Greater Fredericksburg Kennel Club’s AKC Temperament Tests on Sunday, August 23, 2026? Give you and your dog the best opportunity for success by joining us for one (or both!) of our ATT Practice Run-Throughs.

📅 Wednesday, August 5 – 6:00 PM
📅 Wednesday, August 12 – 6:00 PM

📍 Colonial K9 – Stafford, VA
❄️ Air-Conditioned Indoor Training Facility

The AKC Temperament Test evaluates your dog’s reaction to everyday situations, including friendly strangers, unusual sights and sounds, different walking surfaces, and environmental challenges. The goal isn’t perfection—it’s to demonstrate a dog that is stable, confident, socially appropriate, and able to recover from surprises.

Our practice nights are the perfect opportunity to:
🐾 Walk through the ATT exercises before test day.
🐾 Build your dog’s confidence in a relaxed setting.
🐾 Become familiar with the test stations and expectations.
🐾 Ask questions and ease those pre-test nerves.

Whether you’re entering your first ATT or hoping to earn the AKC Temperament Test (ATT) title, these run-throughs can make a huge difference in helping both handler and dog feel prepared.

🐾 Can Your Dog Earn the AKC Temperament Test (ATT) Title? 🐾

The Greater Fredericksburg Kennel Club (GFKC) is excited to host TWO AKC Temperament Tests (ATT) on Sunday, August 23, 2026, and we’d love to see you and your dog there!

The AKC Temperament Test evaluates your dog’s reaction to everyday situations and a variety of sights, sounds, surfaces, and unexpected stimuli. The goal isn’t perfection—it’s to demonstrate a dog that is stable, confident, socially appropriate for its breed, and able to recover from surprises in a reasonable amount of time. (American Kennel Club)

🏅 Dogs that pass two ATT tests under two different AKC Evaluators are eligible to earn the AKC Temperament Test (ATT) suffix title, which can proudly be added after their registered name! (American Kennel Club)

✅ All breeds and mixed breeds with an AKC, PAL, or Canine Partners number are welcome to participate.

✨ Why not earn both qualifying passes in one day? Since we’re offering two tests, you’ll have the opportunity to complete both requirements if your dog passes under our two different evaluators. (American Kennel Club)

We are honored to support our local K9’s and police departments. Thank you King George Sheriffs Department for your continued services.

“The Greater Fredericksburg Kennel Club came by our office today with a generous donation of $2800 to support our K-9 Unit! Kathy Ryan presented the check to K-9 teams Sgt. Nimon/Odin and Deputy Vanatta/Haze. The funds will be used to purchase two new Heat Alert Systems for their cruisers to keep their four-legged partners safe in the hot weather.”

Leptospirosis ("lepto") is a serious, often fatal bacterial disease in dogs that affects the kidneys and liver, caused by Leptospira bacteria found in soil, mud, and water contaminated by wildlife urine. Common symptoms include fever, vomiting, lethargy, increased drinking/urination, and jaundice. It is zoonotic, meaning it can spread from pets to humans. Luckily there is a vaccination to prevent lepto up to 84%! Come visit us, our walk in vaccine clinic runs Monday through Saturday 8:00-12:30!

The Greater Fredericksburg Kennel Club would like to extend our heartfelt thanks to everyone who helped make our April 2026 FastCAT a safe, successful, and enjoyable event!

We are incredibly grateful to Jan and Mert White for once again hosting us at beautiful Milbrook Farm in Bealeton, Virginia. Your generosity and support of our sport and community mean so much.

A sincere thank you to Sugarloaf Mountain Racing for serving as our superintendent and helping keep the event running smoothly.

Special recognition goes to our FastCAT Chair, Kimberly Beahm, for her dedication, leadership, and countless hours behind the scenes to make this trial possible.

And to our amazing April 2026 Fast CAT volunteers — thank you! Your hard work, teamwork, and commitment to safety are what make these events possible. We are humbled by the support of our club community and proud of another successful weekend celebrating our dogs doing what they love.

Thank you all for being part of it — we look forward to seeing everyone at the next one!

The Greater Fredericksburg Kennel Club is proud to continue one of our most meaningful traditions—giving back to the community we love.

Each year, we are honored to support our local K-9 unit, helping provide the tools and resources they need to do their incredible work. These dedicated officers and their canine partners play a vital role in keeping our community safe, and we are grateful for the opportunity to contribute to their success.

Community involvement has always been at the heart of our mission. From promoting responsible dog ownership to supporting working dogs and local initiatives, we believe in making a positive impact both inside and outside the ring.

Thank you to the Stafford County Sheriff’s Office K-9 Unit for all that you do—we are proud to stand behind you year after year.
