Who wants to foster some puppies??

Be part of our LOV Story! ❤ Become a puppy raiser to a future four-legged hero. 🐾

We welcomed two 14-week-old black Labrador puppies into our service dog training program this weekend. These pups will spend about 18 months with us before they are provided at no cost to wounded or disabled veterans who need them. 🐕‍🦺 🇺🇸

Interested in fostering and live within 50 miles or so of the Fredericksburg or Richmond, VA areas? We provide everything you need: Food, supplies, veterinary care, and training fundamentals to get them off to a great start. You provide the LOV, plus about three 10-minute training sessions a day. (Don't worry, we teach you everything you need to know, and support is always just a call away!) Email us at [email protected] to learn more.

Unlimited puppy kisses included. 😘

Team Courage members Jason, Matthew, Chris, and Phil represented Leashes of Valor during Tiger Fuel Company's charity golf tournament at The Golf Club at Mattaponi Springs. Tiger Fuel hosts this event annually to give back to the community. We were so grateful to be selected this year to receive the funds raised during the event.

Congratulations to these guys for coming in second place in the tournament!

The morning started with a downpour but cleared up just in time for our very first Valor Cup VET-AM at Fawn Lake Country Club!

After 10 consecutive days of rain, we thought we'd be lucky if even half of our participants showed up. So you can imagine how touched we were when every. single. player and sponsor came out to show their support for our mission providing service dogs at no cost to wounded and disabled veterans.

A big thank you to those sponsors, including our title sponsor, Altria Group, and Calypso Boarding Kennels, Miller Electric Company, DS Consulting, MI Windows and Doors, ABC Supply Co. Inc., Window World of Richmond, Pete Griffin of Griffin Lending Team, and NT Concepts. We also want to thank Fawn Lake Country Club for making it such a great day. We can't wait to come back!

And finally, we are grateful to our team of veterans, who we can always count on for LoV!

Meet Justin Elliott, a 36-year-old Air Force veteran from Lemon Springs, NC, now residing in Maryville, TN. With notable deployments to Saudi Arabia, Kuwait, Haiti, and Afghanistan, Justin’s dedication extends beyond his military service.
Off the golf course, Justin enjoys fly fishing, camping, exploring battlefields, and capturing aerial views with his drone. He discovered golf in middle school and, after attending a summer golf camp, became hooked. Justin's passion led him to win the American Heroes Foundation state championship in Arizona in 2023. He’s eagerly anticipating the World Amateur Golf Tournament in Myrtle Beach this August.
Justin learned about the Valor Cup Tournament Series through Leashes of Valor and their mission resonated deeply with him. Participating in the series allows him to support this cause while enjoying the game he loves. Through the Valor Cup, Justin aims to build lifelong friendships, experience camaraderie, and find a sense of purpose.
For Justin, golf offers constant challenges and opportunities for improvement, providing a therapeutic focus. It also fosters connections with fellow veterans and new friends. He’s grateful to be part of an organization that supports veterans in need and looks forward to contributing to their continued success.
Justin's message to fellow Valor Cup participants and community members: "I am so grateful to be a part of this organization and the people I’ve met so far. I am grateful for what they do for other veterans in need and they will always have my support. Thank you guys so much and keep up the amazing work you’re doing."

He became involved with the Valor Cup Tournament Series through his role as a team member and is deeply motivated by his support for charitable organizations that assist first responders and military personnel.

Through the Valor Cup, Jerry finds joy in the camaraderie and personal interactions with fellow veterans. His dedication to both the sport and the mission of the tournament reflects his lifelong commitment to service, community, and connection.

In 1988, Scott McDonough was a college dropout tending bar in South Florida and starting to feel burnt out from the long, late hours. That’s when he decided to join a couple of his friends who were enlisting in the U.S. Army.

“It was really just an impulsive thing,” McDonough says. “I wanted to do something different and I figured it was worth a shot. And, well … 26 years later …”

Twenty-six years later he retired from the Army as a Master Sergeant with a bachelor’s and a master’s degree. He deployed seven times, including four deployments to Afghanistan and one to Iraq, and earned two Bronze Stars, a Legion of Merit and many other medals and awards.

Much of his work with the Army was as a career counselor, working on retention and re-enlistment. It wasn’t hard for him to find motivation for those sales pitches, considering the effect the Army had on his own life.

“It settled me down and matured me right away,” McDonough says. “It showed me how to become a leader. In the Army, you either become a leader or it doesn’t work out — it’s up or out. It gave me a lot of drive.”

Today McDonough, 59, is a civilian with the Army, working as a program manager for the 1st Special Forces Command Foreign Language training division.
