It’s that time of year! The Rappahannock Rotary has busted out the scarecrows in storage and tied corn stocks to the lamp posts in downtown Fredericksburg. It takes a village. Great work, Rotarians!

Thank you to our female Rotarians who are former law-enforcement officers.

Summer may slow down some of our restoration programs, but one thing that NEVER stops is INVASIVE SPECIES!! And thankfully, neither do our volunteers! 💪🌿

Our invasive species removal team is a volunteer manager’s dream. Volunteers from across FOR come together with new volunteers to tackle a massive task as ONE team, building community while making a real impact.

Our efforts are spearheaded by our amazing oyster shell recycling volunteer, dedicated FOR advocate, and Master Naturalist, Kevin Rousseau! Kevin supports FOR in so many ways, and he’s now adding invasive species removal coordinator to his list!

The fight against oriental bittersweet at our FXBG office has brought Master Naturalists, Rotary Club members from Fredericksburg and Stafford, and students together once a month to make a BIG difference. 🌱💚 We are excited to see the effort grow.

A HUGE thank you to all of our incredible volunteers for braving the summer heat and getting their hands dirty to help keep our environment healthy and our education center safe!

We couldn’t do it without you! 🙌
