Club member Jack Schumacher, a former police officer, talked to the club about the NRA gun safety rules.
To recap:
ALWAYS keep your finger off the trigger until ready to shoot. While holding a gun, rest your finger alongside the frame and outside the trigger guard. Until you are ready to fire DO NOT touch the trigger. If you put your finger on the trigger, be prepared to shoot your target.
ALWAYS keep a gun unloaded until ready to use.
WHEN USING OR STORING A GUN, always follow these NRA safety rules:
Know your target and wht is beyond.
Know how to use the gun safely.
Be sure the gun is safe to operate.
Use only the correct am******on for your gun.
Wear eye and ear protection as appropriate.
NEVER use alcohol, over-the-counter or prescription drugs before or while shooting.
Store guns so they are not accissible to unauthorized persons.
Use caution when cleaning a gun.
If you want to learn more about gun safety, explore the additional fi***rm training resources and services offered by the NRA.
