We didn’t come this far just to stop here.

Join our town hall to learn how to use the new law, hold theaters accountable, and make sure access is real—not just promised.

If theaters aren’t stepping up, document it and send it to [email protected]
And yes—we’re absolutely willing to come back with a stronger bill next year.

Open captions in Virginia? Who's excited?
Hello everyone!

I'm very excited to share with you all that Delegate Hernandez' bill HB602 (https://lis.virginia.gov/bill-details/20261/HB602) is live! You can now share this legislation with your networks and spread the news. Delegate Hernandez is excited to carry this bill and we are hopeful that we will see this signed into law this year!

As far as next steps: I am now working to determine which committee the bill will be assigned to. Typically, a bill is docketed to be heard in a sub-committee 1 or 2 days before the hearing. Our hope is that we can work with the committee chair to get an advance warning for this bill. The House Clerk's staff will provide ASL interpreters for testimony, but usually it takes a few days to source an interpreter. The Delegate would like to provide you the opportunity to have your voices heard by the committee members.

Talk soon,

Dan Harner (he, him, él)
