The Jazz Jam of Fredericksburg is a collection of jazz musicians and jazz lovers meeting weekly (these days) to play jazz tunes from the bebop, bossa, post-bop, and fusion eras of the late 1940's to the early 1970's. in downtow
n Fredericksburg, is the gracious host of the Jazz Jam. Please enjoy their full bar while you listen to live jazz. We meet 1st and 3rd Thursdays of each month at 9pm. We play tunes from the Berklee 5th edition and Hal Leondard 6th edition Real Books, volumes 1 and 2. The Jazz Jam is sponsored by the Fredericksburg Jazz Collective, and presented by drummer Chris Fink and members of the Dangerous Kitchen jazz band. We are a mix of seasoned professionals, casual hobbyists, older musical wannabees, and high-schoolers who who are learning Blue Bossa for the first time. The Jazz Jam has helped several high-school aged musicians develop their chops before heading off to college to receive music degrees. If you are one of these eager young musicians, get yourself a Real Book, learn a handful of the tunes from the printed Real Book lead shee and the original reference recordings, then join us on stage.
