Plum Creek Art Center is located in the very friendly small town of Fredericksburg, Iowa. It was the dream of local artist, Connie Mohr, to have a destination art gallery for artists of all media to display and sell their works. Through volunteer efforts and fundraising this beautiful gallery was completed and opened in 2011. The gallery currently displays and sells the unique and beautiful work o

f approximately 60 area artists. Phase II of this community non-profit business was to build a multi-purpose addition/classroom to the gallery. This spacious 65' x 20' room provides ample area for art classes, an ever-changing feature gallery, and receptions for a variety of special events.

Connie Mohr is a legend in Fredericksburg and Northeast Iowa for her artistic abilities, especially in watercolor painting. Her legacy is the Connie Mohr Art Gallery, featuring many area artists, at Plum Creek Art Center.

Connie Mohr passed away at age 91 on February 18, 2018. Many people proudly possess one or Mohr (LOL) of her paintings.

You can register to WIN this beautiful rural scene painted by Connie. In the frame it measures 16" x 20". Stop in Plum Creek Art Center now through Dairy Days June 7th to put your name into the drawing. You must register in person.

Looking for something different? Support Andrew Wroble with a purchase of one of his Brushed Ink Artworks. They are contemporary, organic, calming, dreamy, natural.

Here's Andrew's process of creating:
Wet the paper
Spray on color ink washes
Brush in trees
Add color to the trunks and branches
Let colors run together
Brush in more branches
More water spritzing
Blow colors around
More color washes
More brushing in trees
When nearly dry - rinsed entire project off with water
Finished!

This beautiful piece is matted and framed in a gorgeous and sturdy wooden frame. The size is 10" x 12". Price: $85. Each purchase at PCAC supports both the artist and the art center.
PCAC also has some unframed pieces from Andrew.

This beautiful wooden cross was handcrafted by Ralph Schulz, a long-time Fredericksburg resident. The Infinity Cross symbolizes faith and love that never end.

Made with warm two-tone wood, this striking piece measures 11" x 16". As with all of Ralphā€™s work, the craftsmanship is exceptional. The angled corners are precise, and the natural wood grain is thoughtfully matched to create added beauty and character.

Motherā€™s Day can hold a lot of emotions.

Joy.
Grief.
Gratitude.
Longing.
Love that is loud.
Love that is quiet.

So today, we honor all those who mother.

The mothers.
The grandmothers.
The stepmothers.
The bonus moms.
The aunties.
The mentors.
The foster moms.
The friends who showed up like family.
The ones carrying others while carrying themselves.

The ones who held space.
Held hands.
Held homes together.
Held hope when others couldnā€™t.

From Oh, the Threads That Hold Me:

ā€œThere were hands before mineā€”
weathered, warm, wise.
They stirred soup, folded laundry,
turned pages, held babies, held space.ā€

And maybe thatā€™s what mothering is at its core:
holding space for another human being to become.

To everyone who has nurtured, guided, protected, encouraged, comforted, or loved someone through life, we see you.

Looking to connect with other artsy, crafty, and creative folks?
Plum Creek Art Center is starting a supportive group where you can work on your own projects, share ideas, get gentle, constructive feedback. Be motivated and inspired!

This 'club' will be lead by the super nice Barb Sowers! She is very encouraging and enthusiastic about people with any level of creativity and skills. Monday Morning Makers will meet every two weeks.

Come and check out this first gathering on Monday, May 4th, 9:30-11:30 at Plum Creek Art Center classroom area. For ages 18+. No registration necessary. Bring a project to work on, or just come to learn more about the Monday Morning Makers. Don't be shy, please come! Friendships will be made!

David is an experienced and accomplished artist. He skillfully balances detail and spontaneous fluid washes, making him a renown watercolor painter!
This painting is "Fish Cleaning Shack", Leech Lake, MN, a great piece to own for any of us who have fished at Leech Lake, or actually, for any fishing lover. It's colors are cool and relaxing and makes you dream about being there.

It is a medium to large size, measuring 27" x 22".
It is an original piece (not a print).
