وَعَنْ عَمَّارِ بْنِ يَاسِرٍ ‏- رضى الله عنه ‏- قَالَ: { مَنْ صَامَ اَلْيَوْمَ اَلَّذِي يُشَكُّ فِيهِ فَقَدْ عَصَى أَبَا اَلْقَاسِمِ ‏- صلى الله عليه وسلم ‏-} وَذَكَرَهُ اَلْبُخَارِيُّ تَعْلِيقًا, وَوَصَلَهُ اَلْخَمْسَةُ, وَصَحَّحَهُ اِبْنُ خُزَيْمَةَ, وَابْنُ حِبَّانَ 1‏ .‏
‏1 ‏- صحيح.‏ علقه البخاري ( 4 / 119 / فتح )‏، ووصله أبو داود ( 2334 )‏، والنسائي ( 4 / 153 )‏، والترمذي ( 686 )‏، وابن ماجه ( 1645 )‏، وابن خزيمة ( 1914 )‏، وابن حبان ( 3577 )‏ من طريق صلة بن زفر قال: كنا عند عمار فأتي بشاة مصلية، فقال: كلوا، فتنحى بعض القوم؛ فقال: إني صائم.‏ فقال عمار: فذكره.‏ وقال الترمذي: " حسن صحيح ".‏ قلت: والحديث لم أجده في " المسند ".‏

*Ramadan 2026 Moon Sighting Update*

CHC has received all *_NEGATIVE_* sighting reports from across North America. The hilal for Ramadan was *_NOT SIGHTED_*. We will complete 30 days of Sha’ban, Insha’Allah.

The first Taraweeh will be on Wednesday night (February 18th) and the first day of fasting will be on *Thursday, February 19th, 2026*

Masjid Maryam follows local moon sighting and is part of the Central Hilal Committee (CHC).

CHC scholars and representatives across North & South America will observe the moon on the 29th of Sha’ban.

Assalamu ʿAlaykum wa Raḥmatullāhi wa Barakātuhu,

Tuesday, February 17, is the 29th day of Sha'ban. Please go out after sunset on Tuesday to look in the western sky for the hilal of Ramadan and implement the blessed sunnah of moonsighting.

The likelihood of a "naked-eye" sighting in North America is extremely low (see the attached visibility forecast chart for guidance). Please send us your "naked eye" sighting reports here (whether positive or negative).

We will post our announcement/determination on Tuesday as soon as possible, but no later than 8:00pm PST.

2nd Eid Salah - *10:30 AM (sharp)*
Led by Imam Abdullah Jaffarani

Please arrive *30 minutes earlier* than the Salah time to participate in the takbeeraat and lecture.

*Sadaqatul Fitr/Fitrana/Sarsaya* is *$15 per person.* This must be given before praying Eid Salah. Please use the special envelopes provided by the Masjid.
