May 3rd is the annual Scouts Read Sacred Texts event. This is an "at-home" activity to practice reverence. If you are unfamiliar with the Bible and don't know where to begin, I recommend the book of John, Chapter 3. You can find it online. Happy Easter!

On March 21, 2026, Aquia District District Executive Kristy Freeman, Awards and Recognition Chair Lorraine Lince, along with District Commissioner Eric Yerly and Roundtable Commissioner Ken Todd, had the distinct honor to present the Council Certificate of Merit to Elliott, a Cub Scout in Pack 578, at their Blue and Gold Celebration.

The Council Certificate of Merit was presented to Elliott for her heroic efforts last summer. She reacted with remarkable courage when her cousin jumped into a pool unable to swim and without a flotation device. Elliott responded without hesitation, jumped in too, and saved him from drowning.

Elliott’s actions required significant bravery and are in keeping with the highest traditions of Scouting.

We presented over 200 awards during our Blue and Gold Banquet this year, ranging from elective adventures, conservation, international scouting, STEM, religious programs, and adult awards.
