On January 24, 2026, members of the Virginia Star Quilters’ Guild (VSQG) participated in the annual Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Day of Service event, organized by the University of Mary Washington (UMW). This initiative commemorates Dr. King's legacy through service projects that benefit agencies within the Fredericksburg area. During the event, VSQG members provided instruction to UMW students on quilt structure and fundamental sewing techniques. Together, they constructed baby quilts that will be donated to the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit at the Mary Washington Hospital, Fredericksburg Campus, supporting newborns in need of specialized care.
