We've welcomed quite a few new followers lately, so we thought this would be a good time for an official introduction! 💛
Fairy Godmother Project (FGP) is a nonprofit based in Fredericksburg, Virginia, dedicated to easing the day-to-day burdens of families facing all phases of a pediatric cancer diagnosis. Our focus is on supporting parents and caregivers so they have more time and energy to focus on their child and family.
What does that look like?
💛 Practical support: Meals, house cleaning, lawn care, gas and grocery gift cards, AAA memberships, and financial assistance. Through our community partners, families also have access to services such as duct cleaning, YMCA memberships, and pet grooming and boarding.
💛 Emotional support: Lead volunteers who offer personal support to families during treatment, access to complimentary counseling services, and quarterly family events that provide opportunities to connect with others who understand.
💛 Remission and survivorship support: Continued care for families adjusting to life after treatment, including gift cards for a period following treatment, as well as ongoing opportunities to participate in family events and a retreat for moms.
💛 End-of-life and bereavement support: Compassionate care, financial assistance for hospice-related expenses, funeral and celebration of life assistance, an annual luncheon and family retreat, and remembrance opportunities for families grieving the loss of a child.
💛 Professional photography: Complimentary family portraits twice a year that celebrate the love and connections within each family.
Every family's needs are different, and our goal is to meet them where they are. We can't take away a cancer diagnosis, but we can make sure families don't have to face it alone.
