FGP Fairy Godmother Project

FGP Fairy Godmother Project Our mission is to ease the burden of day-to-day life for families facing all phases of pediatric cancer. Interested in helping? Contact us!

We support families from point of diagnosis or as soon as they reach out until end of treatment. As an organization, we are in constant contact with families, providing support including financial relief, house cleaning, lawn care, gas cards, meals and/or grocery cards, emotional support and more. We have a new program at end of life that will supplement what is offered by hospice to include house

hold tasks, errands, assistance with planning of celebration of life, funeral, etc and then support after the child passes. We do a bereavement newsletter monthly and try to connect the families to the services within our community. We provide volunteers to visit the families and most of the time there is already an established relationship which is very special. We also do professional photography and are doing memorial items like videos of the child before they pass, memorial jewelry, RAK days to honor the children, tshirt quilts of the child's clothing, and more. This past weekend, we celebrated our incredible volunteers at our Summer Volunteer Appreciation event at Wilderness Run Vineyards!

FGP could not carry out our mission without the dedicated volunteers who give their time and talents to support families facing pediatric cancer. From delivering meals and community care packages, to serving as Lead Volunteers, helping at events, and so much more, their impact is felt every day.

Thank you to each and every volunteer who helps make a difference for FGP families and our community. We are so grateful for you! πŸ’›

Volunteer spotlight! At the Stardust Ball this year, the honoree was long-time volunteer Brooke Luck! Here's what we had to say about her...

When we think about the backbone of FGP, we think of the person who doesn’t just show up, but arrives with a smile and a notebook, ready to turn chaos into a coordinated plan.

Our honoree has served as a Lead Volunteer for nine different families. To put that in perspective: those are nine separate journeys she has walked alongside, through every high and every heartbreaking low. She is the definition of stability when everything else feels uncertain.

Whether she’s behind the bar as an FGP Guest Bartender, donning a LEGO minifigure costume for FGP's Family Trunk or Treat, or coordinating details for the Stardust Ball, her response to any need is never "if," it's always, "What time do I need to be there?" She has served as a course marshal at a race benefiting FGP and even painted kids' faces at an FGP child's Make-A-Wish party.

It's also the quiet, behind-the-scenes moments that truly define what Brooke gives to FGP. When an FGP child was in hospice, she found a Santa to visit him, coordinating every detail to ensure the family had a special holiday memory together. She worked with friends to organize meal sign-ups so parents could trade the worry of dinner for a few more precious moments with their child.

Brooke's impact cannot be measured in volunteer hours alone. It is found in the comfort she provides, the burdens she helps carry, and the unwavering support she offers to the organization and our families. πŸ’› Thank you, Brooke!

πŸ’œ Community Spotlight: FGP Fairy Godmother ProjectπŸ’œ

When a child is diagnosed with cancer, an entire family begins a journey they never expected to take.

The Fairy Godmother Project was created to help ensure those families never have to walk that journey alone.

For years, Fredericksburg Elks #875 has been proud to support the Fairy Godmother Project and the incredible work they do for families facing pediatric cancer. Their mission goes far beyond medical careβ€”they help ease the burdens of everyday life so parents and caregivers can focus on what matters most: their child and their family.

Through services such as meals, house cleaning, lawn care, grocery and gas assistance, emotional support, family programs, and bereavement services, Fairy Godmother Project provides hope, compassion, and practical support when families need it most. ❀️

What makes this organization so special is that they don't just support a diagnosisβ€”they support the entire family through every stage of the journey.
