Dear VFB Family,

As we blow through October we quickly fly towards November 1 and our Golden Horizons Online Concert!

Today marks the last day to take advantage of the Early Bird Special offer of $10.

Once that clock tolls midnight the carriage turns into a jack-o-lantern and the price goes up to $15.

We are all awaiting the concert on Monday, November 1, at 8pm EST.

Let’s face the facts, today’s society is drastically different than it was even a mere 10 years ago. With the advancement of certain technology such as adaptive screen readers being built in to smart devices and online shopping becoming more and more of a social norm; not to mention the new normal that has come due to COVID-19; today’s blind individual has a completely new set of challenges and needs that were not present before. And indeed, challenges and needs that were present before are being addressed and attended to through these technological advancements. Volunteers For the Blind are completely aware of this and are looking to expand and adapt our programming to meet the needs of the 21st-century blind citizen. We cannot do it alone however. Let’s open up a conversation to figure out exactly what those new needs and challenges are and how Volunteers For the Blind can help address them. If you had an opportunity to work with a cited volunteer a few hours each month, how could they best assist you achieve The goals and independence you were striving for? Could working with a blind peer help you brainstorm ideas for overcoming certain challenges and help you feel less isolated? Are you struggling to find a way to step into the workforce and are in need of job experience and advocacy assistance? These are just a few suggestions, but nothing is off the table here. Comment below and let’s start talking honestly about how we can build each other up and assist one another in living the lives we deserve to live.
