It is with great sadness that I share that Thierry Winum died on August 13, 2026, in St Raphael. He was a remarkable artist whose works suggested both beauty and anguish. His deft, quick, yet careful hand, and visual sense of serenity and calm, created art poetry, with wide swaths of calming hues, and carefully edited portraits. His work was featured at FCCA and other venues in Fredericksburg in 1999, during the Celebrating our French Connections events. He loved the Middle East, especially Lebanon, and sought out exotic new foods and horizons. I spent a glorious few weeks with him as we periodically toured the small museums and galleries that dot the Cote d'Azur. Kind, sensitive, pensive, serious. I am richer for having known him. Rest in well deserved peace.
