Our last day with the kids. We only had activity, and it was the farewell party. It's always so fun seeing everyone together and the bonds that have formed. But I can't deny it, the day always makes me cry.

We kicked off our Tuesday getting a tour of James Monroe High School. It's always so cool to see the differences in how the schools operate in different countries. Then we headed on down the road Kings Dominion for the day! Unfortunately, shortly after we got there, the weather took a turn! Due to the extreme downpour, the park ended up closing early. But the students made the most of it with their host families.

Our second Monday with the kids was a true Monday. It was a long day where plans had to change. But the kids rolled with it so well! We took the train up to DC, and after a little hold up, got the privilege of walking across the tracks to change trains. We took a nice, long, walk along the mall from the Capitol Building to the Reflecting Pool. We stopped to get a look at the Washington Monument and the World War II Memorial. We wrapped up the day with a tour of the Capitol Building. Then we collapsed in the air conditioned train to get home.

For our Friday we hopped on the bus and headed over to Luray Caverns. We got to tour the caverns and do some shopping at the Hawksbill Trading Company. The students then headed over to watch the Fredericksburg Nationals game. Ethan got to throw out the first pitch before the game was rescheduled to Sunday due to the smoke from the Canadian wildfires. Don't worry, we all got back together Sunday to catch the game.
