The Villages of Urbana has approved the following independent swim instructors for the 2026 pool season. Whether your child is just getting comfortable in the water, looking to improve stroke technique, preparing for swim team, or you're an adult interested in building confidence and skills, our instructors offer a variety of experience levels and teaching styles.

A competitive swimmer for nearly 15 years and current collegiate swimmer, Marshall combines high-level swimming experience with a background in Early Education. He works with children, teens, and adults looking to improve their swimming skills and confidence in the water.

A longtime VOU resident and competitive swimmer with the Monocacy Aquatic Club, Bradley has been teaching swim lessons within the community for the past three summers. He enjoys helping young swimmers build confidence, develop strong fundamentals, and discover a love for swimming.

Katherine is a year-round swim instructor serving Frederick County and surrounding areas. Her focus is water safety and stroke development for swimmers of all ages and skill levels, from overcoming fear of the water to refining competitive swimming techniques.

With 31 years of swim instruction experience, including 18 years in Urbana, Shannon has taught swimmers of all ages and abilities. Her background includes coaching swim teams, teaching future lifeguards, and helping both children and adults achieve their swimming goals safely and confidently.

A competitive swimmer since age seven and current Urbana High School swimmer, Laila enjoys working with young swimmers and pre-team athletes. Her lessons focus on building confidence, water safety, and preparing swimmers for future success on swim teams.

Every weekend we have families arrive at the pool excited to spend the day with friends and guestsβ€”only to discover they don't have the required guest passes. Unfortunately, our gate staff cannot make exceptions, and it's never fun having weekend plans disrupted at the entrance.

⏰ Please remember: The VOU Office closes at 4:00 PM on Fridays.

If you plan to bring guests to any VOU pool over the weekend, please make sure your guest passes are taken care of before the office closes on Friday.

Once school is out, all three Villages of Urbana pools will move to their regular summer operating schedule.

Pool closure days will be:

β€’ Stone Barn Pool: Closed Tuesdays and Thursdays
β€’ Harris Street Pool: Open daily

We appreciate your patience as our lifeguard staffing expands for the summer season. We look forward to seeing everyone at the pools!

🎀🎢 What a wonderful evening at Harris Street Pool!

A huge thank you to everyone who came out to enjoy our Open Mic Night, proudly sponsored by Renee's Music Studio and The 9th Lane Food & Snack Bar!

From talented performers sharing their music and voices, to neighbors cheering them on, enjoying snacks, treats, and great conversation, the evening was a perfect reminder of what makes the Villages of Urbana such a special community.

Events like these bring us together, create new friendships, support local talent, and give us the opportunity to enjoy summer nights with our neighbors.

Thank you to everyone who sang, performed, listened, volunteered, and helped make the event a success. We loved seeing families, friends, and residents of all ages come together for a night of music, laughter, and community spirit.

Please join us in congratulating our General Manager, Stephanie Turner, on earning her Large-Scale Manager Certification.

Stephanie attended a professional industry conference in Florida this week, where she was recognized for successfully completing this prestigious certification program. This achievement recognizes advanced expertise in the management of large-scale communities, including operations, finance, governance, and strategic planning.
