The Villages of Urbana has approved the following independent swim instructors for the 2026 pool season. Whether your child is just getting comfortable in the water, looking to improve stroke technique, preparing for swim team, or you're an adult interested in building confidence and skills, our instructors offer a variety of experience levels and teaching styles.

A competitive swimmer for nearly 15 years and current collegiate swimmer, Marshall combines high-level swimming experience with a background in Early Education. He works with children, teens, and adults looking to improve their swimming skills and confidence in the water.

A longtime VOU resident and competitive swimmer with the Monocacy Aquatic Club, Bradley has been teaching swim lessons within the community for the past three summers. He enjoys helping young swimmers build confidence, develop strong fundamentals, and discover a love for swimming.

Katherine is a year-round swim instructor serving Frederick County and surrounding areas. Her focus is water safety and stroke development for swimmers of all ages and skill levels, from overcoming fear of the water to refining competitive swimming techniques.

With 31 years of swim instruction experience, including 18 years in Urbana, Shannon has taught swimmers of all ages and abilities. Her background includes coaching swim teams, teaching future lifeguards, and helping both children and adults achieve their swimming goals safely and confidently.

A competitive swimmer since age seven and current Urbana High School swimmer, Laila enjoys working with young swimmers and pre-team athletes. Her lessons focus on building confidence, water safety, and preparing swimmers for future success on swim teams.
