This Saturday October 3 from 8am to 1 pm is our VOU neighborhood Yard Sale. You can sell from your yard or there will be space available at the Natelli Community Center parking lot, 9023 Harris Street. Come early to set up and it's first come to get a spot! Please park all cars on the street since there will be lots of pedestrians in the parking lot. Any signs that are placed along the streets to advertise your location please take down after the yard sale ends. The weather is predicted to be sunny and pleasant!😃

Join us at the Harris Street Community Center for an E-Scooter & E-Bike Safety Course for kids and teens, hosted by a retired Montgomery County Fire Captain!

Kids will learn important safety tips and rules, put their skills to work on a fun cone course, and test what they learned — with prizes and FREE ice cream!

What was that black stuff getting blown onto the grass at Harris Street?

It’s organic matter, and it’s one part of the Grounds Committee’s no-herbicide turf pilot area.

The pilot is evaluating a different approach to maintaining healthy, usable community turf through soil improvement, aeration and overseeding, fertilization, slightly higher mowing heights, and hand-weeding of landscape beds.

And the results are being measured. The Grounds Committee is scoring the pilot quarterly against defined performance standards and control areas to see how the approach performs over time.

Check out the video to see today’s application in action. You can also visit the Harris Street or the Stone Barn quad pilot areas and scan the QR code on the signs (make sure you're logged in to the community site) to learn more and share your feedback.

(You may see soil being blown in other areas throughout the community as well. That work is part of the regular annual square-footage allotment included in our landscape maintenance contract and does not indicate additional no-herbicide pilot areas.)

🛴🚲 E-SCOOTER & E-BIKE SAFETY COURSE — JUST 13 DAYS AWAY!

Parents, if your kids are riding e-scooters or e-bikes around the community, this is a great opportunity to help them become safer, smarter and more responsible riders!

The Villages of Urbana is hosting a FREE 20-minute E-Scooter & E-Bike Safety Course for kids and teens.

📅 Tuesday, September 22, 2026
⏰ 6:15–7:00 PM
📍 Natelli Community Center – Harris St. Pool
👦👧 Open to ages 5–18
💲 Completely FREE!

Participants will learn important safety tips and rules, put those skills to work on a fun cone course, and finish with a short quiz for a chance to win a fun prize!

🍦 And yes — FREE ICE CREAM FOR EVERYONE!
Helmets are required, so bring yours along.

Join us for an evening of music, and dancing at our VOU Latin Band and Food Truck Night on Saturday, September 19, from 5-8pm on the Stone Barn grounds. Enjoy live music from Pa' G***r, a fantastic Latin Band that will have you moving! Bring your own dinner or purchase delicious food from Sabor de Cuba and Traditional Authentic Mexican Food. Bring your lawn chairs or blankets and dress appropriately for the weather, as this is an outdoor event. Here's a sneak peak at what's in store from Pa' G***r!

Our End of Summer Pool Parties on Labor Day Monday, September 7 will be rockin' at Harris Street pool from 1-4pm and also at Shafer's Mill Pool from 2-5pm. Come on by and enjoy these last days at our VOU pools before they close until next year!

Stone Barn Fitness Center is Closed for Scheduled Cleaning tomorrow morning but we have an alternative for you--Go for a jog with us! 7:45am in front of the gym doors! Nice 3 mile jog. You'll thank yourself later!!
