Open to all women who live in Frederick County who are interested in community service. Members volunteer their time and talents to community programs and projects which interest them. The club meets at the Historic Steiner House, a Frederick City landmark built in 1807 by Stephen Steiner (but currently meeting virtually). The house was purchased by FWCC in 1962 to preserve it for the community's
future generations. The Club hosts a Mardi Gras each year as a fundraiser. Mardi Gras was started in 1962, the same year that Steiner House was purchased, in order to maintain and preserve the house. Mardi Gras also helps fund donations to Frederick non-profit organizations and local scholarships. The club pledged $25,000 to the James M Stockman Cancer Institute in 2017 to be paid over five years. Frederick Woman’s Civic Club sponsors a Youth Art Contest yearly for Middle School and High School students. Students’ work is judged and displayed at Frederick Community College in early January. A reception is held for students, teachers, and families at FCC and monetary prizes are given to first, second and third place winners. FWCC has also been involved with reading to students in the Frederick County Public Schools, providing meaningful opportunities for students involved with Police Activity League, Bingo at Montevue, filling Salvation Army Christmas Stockings, packing emergency boxes for Meals on Wheels, collecting children’s books, hygiene products, and stuffed animals for Children of Incarcerated Parents Partnership; making Linus Blankets for Faith House and DC Candlelighters; collecting socks for Cold Weather Shelter; Comfort Blankets and hygiene products for Heartly House. A number of other projects and/or donations are carried out regularly throughout each club year.
