Parents With Dreams

Teens with Dreams (TWD) was created with a single purpose in mind to encourage teen custodial parents to enter and complete an undergraduate degree program at a college or university. TWD is a network of volunteers that will serve as mentors to accepted mentees during their pregnancy all the way through their graduation from college. The theory is that we will invoke a positive influence by pairin

g mentees with mentors who are living examples of either having been a teen parent or having been raised by a teen parent but who have completed their education and are successful today. Mentors will also encourage mentees to participate in educational and cultural activities that will prepare them for college and expose them to examples and strategies for skills needed to be successful as parents and college. To develop and promote programs which will enhance pride and educational opportunities for pregnant teens and teen custodial parents

2. To establish a mechanism for gathering and dissemination of information to pregnant teens and teen custodial parents

3. To promote professionalism among pregnant teens and teen custodial parents; and help build confidence, self esteem and empower them to reach their full potential

4. To help and encourage pregnant teens and teen custodial parents to complete high school

5. To encourage pregnant teens and teen custodial parents to continue their education at a 2 or 4 year college or university
