A little late to the 2016/2026 trend, but I would be remiss if I didn’t mention that Eat Local Frederick turns 10 this year. What a decade it’s been.

From a student poster project while I was in school for graphic design, to a civic pride campaign, to vending at The Frederick City Market and making some dear farmer friends along the way, having art shows at Milkhouse Brewery at Stillpoint Farm and Hippy Chick Hummus , to providing classes and education at The Common Market Co-op, this has been such a fulfilling ride.

I’m truly grateful to all of you who have supported this project by buying a poster or taking a class with me.

From my first illustrated poster 10 years ago:
“Buying non local food funnels money out of our community with every transaction. Keep jobs and resources in Frederick County by buying goods grown right here by your neighbors.”

Man, who knew back in 2016 the impact on food chains we would experience in 2020 and again just this weekend, as many grocery store shelves were emptied ahead of this winter snowstorm?

Our local farmers always come through for us, and it’s important that we continue to nurture those relationships and support our local foodways.

🌱 As always, posters for sale (in this original beet design and others) at eatlocalfrederick.com

There’s always wayyy too much going on in class to stop and take photos, but the fermentation workshop was a huge success! It was a cabbage explosion in the community room and all of our students contributed to the process of creating our own batches of sauerkraut and kimchi while learning and receiving materials to take home to help them on their independent fermentation journey, including a $5 off coupon to to purchase ingredients as well as a coupon to our partner for a discount on additional reading materials. We love our local partners!

Soon our curriculum for the first quarter of 2026 will drop. What would you like to learn with us? We are open to suggestions!
