Community in action. 💙

The Ausherman team spent this year’s United Way of Frederick County, Maryland's Day of Action volunteering at The Ranch, Inc, an AFF grantee providing residential recovery and support services.

Together, we helped create a long-envisioned memorial garden—a peaceful space where residents can remember loved ones and process grief as part of their recovery journey.

As our own Josh Pedersen shared with The Frederick News-Post, “It doesn’t just take a volunteer or grant or a donation. It takes all of us doing something.”

We were grateful to spend the day alongside hundreds of volunteers showing up for organizations and communities across Frederick County.

Community partnership in action! 💙

The South End Park pavilion has been revitalized, and 100% of the renovation was completed through donated services, labor, and materials from an incredible group of local partners.

A huge thank you to Frederick County Building Industry Association, Wohlsen Construction Company, Global Ace, Tammal Enterprises, H. Frank Foland & Sons, ECS Mid-Atlantic, De Leon Painting, PJ’s Roofing, and everyone who helped bring this project across the finish line!

The refreshed pavilion is an early investment in South End Park, Boys & Girls Club of Frederick County, and the larger vision for the Frederick Youth Campus—a great example of what can happen when our community works together.

The Ausherman Family Foundation was proud to join Governor Moore’s visit to Hill Street Park today, where he announced nearly $500,000 in new ENOUGH Initiative funding for Frederick’s Golden Mile.

This investment will continue supporting local efforts to reduce childhood poverty and create greater opportunities for children and families.

Congratulations to Frederick County Government, the Frederick County Local Management Board, the ENOUGH Advisory Council, grantees, community partners, and Golden Mile residents who have come together around this important work. It takes an entire community working together to create lasting change for Frederick’s children and families.

A new ADA-compliant entrance ramp at Catoctin Medical Center is now complete, providing safer and more accessible entry for patients and community members of all abilities.

We’re proud to have helped bring this important accessibility improvement to life in partnership with Catoctin Medical Center and Ausherman Properties.

The Ausherman Family Foundation is seeking a Student Member of its Board of Trustees for a 2-year volunteer term.

As a Student Trustee, you’ll:

✨ Help review nonprofit grant applications and recommend funding
✨ Connect with philanthropic, nonprofit, and community leaders
✨ Gain hands-on experience in philanthropy, leadership, and civic engagement
✨ Help direct funding that makes an impact across Frederick County

Who should apply?: College freshmen, sophomores, or juniors interested in nonprofits and/or civic engagement.

A grant can do more than fund a project. It can spark new connections.

Thanks to improved ventilation in the indoor arena, Common Ground was able to offer summer programming indoors for the first time and launch a new partnership with the Boys & Girls Club of Frederick County .

Together, they created opportunities for young people to build confidence, practice teamwork, and experience the unique lessons horses can teach.

We love seeing organizations come together to create new possibilities for Frederick County youth. 💙

We recently brought together all of our committee advisors and trustees for an evening of good food and time together at the Banyan, overlooking the city we all care so deeply about.

We are incredibly grateful for this thoughtful and dedicated group of community leaders who generously share their time, experience, and passion to help guide the work of the Ausherman Family Foundation. It was wonderful to step away from committee agendas and simply enjoy each other’s company—with a pretty incredible view of Frederick!

Congratulations to Michelle Nusum-Smith and on 16 incredible years of serving our community!

Sixteen years of empowering others, building meaningful partnerships, and making a lasting impact is a milestone worth celebrating. It was wonderful to join partners and friends in recognizing this remarkable achievement and the many lives Michelle has touched along the way.
