Frederick Catoctones Chorus

Frederick Catoctones Chorus Chartered in 1967, the Frederick Catoctones are the Frederick, MD chapter of the Barbershop Harmony Society. Want to see us live?

If you love singing, come join us on Tuesdays at 7pm! Check out our many upcoming events. We sing for civic, business, and private events, churches, and nursing homes. The chorus or one of our quartets will meet the needs of almost any event. We also provide Singing Valentines every year and sponsor a Men’s Community Christmas Chorus that sings throughout the county during the holiday season. It i

s a great way to acquaint men with Barbershop Harmony. The chorus sings in many Frederick-based events and festivals, and sings at the Frederick Key's games during baseball season. The chorus and quartets have entertained in restaurants, area malls, in other businesses, and in homes all over Frederick County. The best part is that we are getting better every year!

Seven weeks ago, many of these singers had never sung in a group before.

This week, they stood in front of family and friends and performed.

Over the past two months, they learned vocal techniques, explored harmony, found their voice parts, and discovered what happens when people come together to make music.

Ready, Set, Sing is a free community singing program, but graduation night reminded us that it's about more than singing. It's about trying something new, building confidence, and becoming part of something bigger than yourself.

Congratulations to our 2026 Ready, Set, Sing graduates. We couldn't be more proud of what you've accomplished.

And thank you to everyone who supported them along the way.

Wishing everyone a meaningful Memorial Day as we remember and honor those who gave so much in service to our country. 🇺🇸

And since singing is what we do, here’s a little something from us.

Meet Dan Roehl, the newest Baritone of the Frederick Catoctones.

Dan recently joined us for his first gig, Music Man, and is officially became a member.

Which means two things:
1. He survived the tags.
2. We are now legally required to make him stand next to other baritones and argue about the funny notes.

We’re excited to have him singing with us and already causing trouble in the best possible way.

Welcome to the chaos, Dan!

Our friends, Clustered Spires Chorus celebrated their 30th year anniversary and made it into the Frederick News Post!

Thirty years is a long time to keep a chorus together. For the Clustered Spires Chorus, a Frederick-based women’s barbershop group, the secret is simple: show up, sing hard, and

Last week of Ready, Set, Sing got a little exciting.

Singers worked on dynamics, phrasing, silent breathing, matching vowels, and singing four-part chords together.

They worked through America the Beautiful, brought dynamics into Shenandoah, and ended the night singing all the way through it together. Then we had snacks. 🍫

Not bad for a Tuesday night.

MEMBER HIGHLIGHT: Cameron Korb

Cameron joined the Catoctones over 8 years ago despite having absolutely zero barbershop background.

In fact, his musical background was an odd mix of grunge, metal, classical, and jazz … which honestly explains a lot.

Since joining, he’s sung in 2 quartets, Chordians of the Galaxy (Pop Culture Barbershop) and Tune Up (Doo W*p), helps organize our concerts and Singing Valentines chaos every year, and became VP of Marketing after volunteering “just a little.”

He’s also living proof that you do NOT need a singing degree, choir background, or matching vest collection to start singing harmony.

Sometimes all it takes is showing up one Tuesday night and accidentally staying for nearly a decade.

(We’re still trying to figure out how that happened too.)

𝗧𝗵𝗮𝘁 𝘄𝗮𝘀 𝗮 𝗳𝘂𝗻 𝗼𝗻𝗲!
We had a great time joining the Choral Arts Society of Frederick for 𝙏𝙝𝙚 𝙈𝙪𝙨𝙞𝙘 𝙈𝙖𝙣 last weekend.

Different stage. Bigger cast. Same joy of making music with good people.

Thanks to everyone who came out and supported local music in Frederick.

Ready and excited to sing for you all soon with Choral Arts Society of Frederick!
