VAN Community Outreach (VANCO) celebrated its Fifth Anniversary on April 25, 2026, during the 4th Annual Fundraiser Banquet which took place in Frederick, MD. The fundraiser was held to benefit the children and elderly of Liberia. It was an amazing night celebrating the impact our organization has made since 2021. Our most recent accomplishment was the establishment of a 6th library in Klay District, Bomi County and the opening of 2 computer labs in Grandcess, Grand Kru County and Klay District, Bomi County in March 2026.
All proceeds raised will support the operations of our 6 libraries, 2 computer labs, after school reading club, our Annual Summer Reading Program, and assist the Rally Time Hospital in Grandcess, Grand Kru County.
Our program honored several distinguished guests for their continued support to our organization through significant financial and in-kind contributions throughout the years. The honorees include Dr. Sean and Nancy Hunt, Mrs. Katie Straughan of Lucy's Consignment, Mrs. Viola Essuah-Mensah, Mrs. Teresa Maynor, Dr. Jo-Anne Manswell Butty, PhD, and Mrs. Elizabeth Chung.
Special thanks to our guest speaker, Ike Wilson, who spoke on his experience of providing assistance to Liberian communities and thanked VANCO for contributions to Liberia.
Mrs. Sawieah Liberty, from Atlanta, GA was crowned our new VANCO Queen after raising the most money during our Banquet’s Queen contest.
Thanks to everyone who attended, donated, and supported this program to make it a success! VANCO will continue to empower our Liberian youth and elderly through the support of our community! 📚📚💻💻
