Volunteer spotlight! 🌟🚗

We want to send a massive THANK YOU to Jeanne and George, two of our most dedicated and active volunteers in the Rides for Good program. Jeanne (pictured) was also nominated as our 2025 Volunteer of the Year last year between both Rides for Good and ! Your selflessness and commitment to keeping our community accessible inspire us every single day.

Volunteers truly are the foundation of the Rides for Good program. Without your time and your hearts, we wouldn't be able to make the impact we do right here in Frederick.

As a small token of our appreciation, we recently gifted them their very own custom Rides for Good vests to make them look nice and official when helping their neighbors in need on the road!

Our Ultimate Crossover Episode: There’s nothing stronger than a bond between two nonprofits with a shared mission 💪

We recently met with Sharon, the director of 's Frederick site, to discuss the impact of volunteer-driven support in Frederick County.
While sitting down, it became clear just how much our two programs have in common. Both Rides for Good and Partners in Care are built on a simple, powerful foundation: neighbors helping neighbors. Both of our foundations believe that a full, vibrant life requires connection, and that no one in our community should be left stranded or isolated due to a lack of transportation or access to critical needs.

However, we also came to realize how unique we are, solving different, difficult parts of the same problem. For instance, Partners in Care provides reliable wheelchair-accessible support for those who require it, while Rides for Good primarily focuses on transportation accessibility for the elderly, offering door-to-door service. The conversation quickly turned to discussing how our programs can assist each other and work towards a more accessible Frederick County.

It’s inspiring to stand alongside partners like Partners in Care who share this vision of independence, dignity, and deep community connection for our residents and to know that together, we’re driving Frederick forward!

Reliable transportation changes lives, and we just got a huge boost to keep Frederick County moving. 🚗🧡

We are incredibly grateful to have received a generous donation from the 's Community Dream Foundation! Thanks to their generosity, over 65 more people in Frederick will have access to reliable transportation to meet their needs. Through grants, sponsorships, and investments, their Foundation provides support to community partners that offer critical services and programs in their community.

This support will go directly into our "Good Neighbor Fund," helping us provide subsidized rides for ALICE families right here in Frederick County. We’re extremely thankful for our long-standing partnership with First United Bank in making our community more accessible for everyone!

No one’s independence should be limited by a 1-mile circle.

For a 20-year-old, a 1-mile walk or commute might just be a quick, breezy 15-minute trip to the local coffee shop or office. But for a senior, that exact same mile can feel like a marathon.

The reality is that for many adults over the age of 55, a 1 to 1.5-mile walk is considered the maximum comfortable distance they can routinely handle for a daily commute. When your "world" is physically restricted to a tight 1-mile radius around your home, the things most of us take for granted, such as grocery shopping, visiting doctors, or seeing family, suddenly become major hurdles.

At Rides for Good, we’re dedicated to breaking down these exact boundaries. By bridging the transportation gap, we give local seniors and ALICE families the freedom to travel safely and comfortably far beyond their immediate neighborhoods. We ensure that age or lack of a vehicle doesn't dictate your access to essential healthcare, community, and life.

Let's expand the radius of what's possible, together. Volunteers are the heart of our organization, and one ride a week could change someone's life. For more information, visit https://ridesforgood.saferidefoundation.org/

Not only is the number higher than you’d expect- it set a record!

At Rides for Good, our mission has always been to bridge the transportation gap in Frederick, especially in our rural and underserved areas. But true community mobility takes an ecosystem, and we are incredibly proud to have partners like Transit Services of Frederick County working towards the same goals.

Our public transit system is doing monumental work on a massive scale, and thanks to their fare-free initiative and community outreach, they served a historic 928,650+ riders in the 2025 fiscal year!

Public transit is one of the backbones of our county, and by working side by side with programs like theirs, Rides for Good can focus on filling the unique, hard-to-reach gaps for local ALICE families and seniors. Together, we are eliminating transportation barriers and ensuring everyone has a pathway to financial stability and health.

Great things happen when local education meets local impact. 🤝

Wilhem, our Director of First Impressions, and the 2025-2026 team of ‘Nonprofit Management and Leadership’ students are absolutely thrilled to be collaborating with Hood College once again this year!

Our mission to provide safe and reliable transportation across Frederick, MD doesn't just happen on the road; it takes a village behind the scenes, too. This past semester, these brilliant students are diving into our world to help us craft, design, and share the Rides for Good Story.

Let us handle the traffic so you can recharge.

In Frederick, many of our neighbors are balancing their own lives while ensuring their loved ones get the care they need. It’s extremely easy to overlook your own well-being, but caregiver fatigue is real and unavoidable without help. When the physical, emotional, and mental exhaustion of caregiving takes a toll, it doesn't just affect you; it can also affect the quality of care you can provide.

Know the 6 Signs of Caregiver Fatigue:
Exhaustion: Feeling constantly tired, even after "resting"
Isolation: Withdrawing from friends and social activities
Irritability: Feeling impatient or easily frustrated
Changes in Appetite: Significant weight loss or gain
Physical Pain: Frequent headaches or bodily aches
Losing Interest: Finding no joy in the hobbies you used to love

How Rides for Good is Helping:

Rides for Good is here to support Frederick's caregivers by taking one major stressor off your plate: transportation. We provide reliable, appointment-based rides to medical appointments for adults of all ages. Let our volunteer drivers handle the traffic and parking while you take a well-deserved moment to breathe.

Reclaim your time. We’ll handle the drive.

Imagine saying "no" after 6 months of job searching because of a lack of transportation?

In Maryland, the average job search takes 5.9 months. Reliable transportation isn't just "nice-to-have", it’s a fundamental requirement for most jobs. For many in our community, the heartbreak of turning down an opportunity isn't about lack of skill or drive to succeed; it’s simply about the lack of a ride.

At Rides for Good, we believe your career path shouldn't be blocked by a missing car or rural limitations on public trans[prtation. We’re working to bridge that gap and ensure that everyone in Frederick has the access they need to thrive.

Let’s change the narrative together. Go to https://ridesforgood.saferidefoundation.org/ to learn about how volunteering with Rides for Good can help make sure Frederick keeps moving forward!
