Throwback to when our community showed up and spoke out 🧡

Over a year ago, Frederick, MD, held a joint City and County Council meeting to address the looming federal funding freezes threatening local non-profits and government agencies across Frederick County.

When essential resources and operating capacity were on the line, our non-profit network rallied, and the Safe Ride Foundation stood alongside fellow organizations to speak up. We spoke with our neighbors about the real-world impact that losing vital support services would have on the Frederick County residents who depend on programs like SOS Safe Ride - a program of The Safe Ride Foundation and Rides for Good for reliable, essential transportation.

Advocating for our neighbors requires a platform, and we remain deeply grateful to both the City and County councils for giving our community a voice and a vehicle to share our testimonies.

Meet Denise, the financial wizard keeping things running smoothly behind the scenes at The Safe Ride Foundation! 👋✨

Denise joined our team in 2023. She helps keep our financial records organized and accurate and ensures we maintain financial compliance as a nonprofit. By taking on this vital responsibility, the rest of our team can stay focused on bridging transportation gaps here in Frederick, MD. Her favorite part of the job? Knowing that every detail she manages contributes directly to our mission!

When she’s not turning spreadsheets into works of art (yes, she genuinely finds math satisfying!), Denise is all about family. Her husband and son are her biggest motivations and the center of her world. Off the clock, you can usually find her relaxing with a great fantasy or action movie, getting lost in epic adventures and cool world-building.

It's not always easy to get this many of us together, but it was worth it for this cause ⬇️

The Safe Ride Foundation team had an amazing time at Impact Club last week. It was a powerful reminder that behind every thriving community is a network of people dedicated to lifting each other up, and we couldn't be prouder to call Frederick home. With so much passion, generosity, and collaboration in our area, we're truly lucky to live in one of the nonprofit capitals of the world.

A huge congratulations to the three outstanding organizations spotlighted that evening: Maryland He**in Awareness Advocates, Inc. - MHAA, Habitat For Humanity of Frederick County, and Steadfast, Standing Firm Against Youth Homelessness .

Thank you all for sharing your stories. Your speeches were deeply moving and serve as an inspiring reminder of why local nonprofit work matters. When we invest our time, resources, and hearts into one another, our entire community moves forward together.
