Frederick County is continuing to show up when it comes to their commitment to safety! 📣

The Safe Ride Foundation is one of several Frederick organizations to have been awarded a $36,000+ Grant through Frederick County’s Helping Empower Area Resources Together (HEART) program, an initiative designed to support local nonprofits navigating recent funding shifts and uncertainty.

This funding helps sustain and strengthen our transportation programs, from expanding access to essential rides for low-income families through Rides for Good to preventing impaired driving through SOS Safe Ride.

While the landscape of funding continues to shift, Frederick County has remained a steady partner in our mission to prevent impaired driving and expand access to transportation for those who need it most.

We’re grateful for that continued trust and committed to putting it to work where it matters most, out on the road, serving our community.

In Frederick County, 1 in 3 households are considered ALICE.
What does that mean? ALICE stands for Asset Limited, Income Constrained, Employed. These are our neighbors who are working hard, often in essential roles like childcare, healthcare, and retail, but still struggle to afford the basic cost of living. They earn above the Federal Poverty Level, but not enough to navigate a financial emergency or the rising costs of housing, food, and transportation.

At Rides for Good, we know that reliable transportation is often the difference between "surviving" and "thriving". Our program has a primary focus on ALICE members, working to bridge the different gaps in transportation deserts all over the county.

We are thrilled to announce that Rides for Good will be a part of the United Way of Frederick County, Maryland's Unity Campaign this year! From March 9th through the 18th, you have a special opportunity to support our mission of providing safe, reliable transportation to those who need it most.

In Frederick County, 1 in 3 households are considered ALICE (Asset Limited, Income Constrained, Employed). These are our neighbors who are working hard—often in essential roles—but still struggle to afford basic necessities like housing, food, and transportation. For an ALICE family, a single car repair or lack of transit options can be the difference between keeping a job and falling into crisis.

Bentztown isn't just about great music and Southern eats—they’re about giving back to the community we all love. Throughout the month, they’ll be helping us to cultivate healthier communities through safe and reliable transportation, supporting both SOS Safe Ride and Rides for Good.

What you need to know: Every Tuesday, Bentztown will be donating 20% of sales attributed to any guest who lets the staff know they are there to support the fundraiser with your unique code, which will be SR03. This applies to sales of alcohol, food, & non-acoholic beveragess during all open hours on Tuesdays, 11 am - 10 pm.

We shifted gears from driving cars to solving puzzles 🧩 🚗

The Safe Ride Foundation office staff took on Clue IQ’s ‘Excalibur’ escape room and didn’t just survive—we conquered. As part of our two-day staff retreat, we set a new record as the fastest completion as a team of 10, finishing the 60-minute quest in just under 30 minutes! We’re feeling extremely grateful for the opportunity to collaborate and can’t wait to show you what we have in store for the rest of 2026!
