COATA is honored to have met some of the most amazing, soul-touching, and passionate people in DC on March 13, the anniversary of Breonna Taylor’s murder, for the Memorial for the Powerful.
Although we faced counter protesting and adversity, the overwhelming message was one of love, one of grief, and also one of hope.
Black women were remembered, commemorated, missed, and loved that day, and we’re so grateful to every volunteer, organizer, and attendee who showed up and showed out on BLM Plaza for such a powerful moment.
Our video will be released soon as a recap for all those who could not make it. The link to the WTOP article will be added to our website very soon as well!
We can’t wait to keep educating, listening, organizing, and fighting for justice.

HI ALL! COATA is back for the New Year and excited to launch several different projects! One particularly close to our hearts is honoring the life and light of Tommy Raskin, the son of Congressmen . Just as Rep. Raskin has been a friend to COATA, the difference Jamie made in his life is irreplaceable and should be honored as such. To do this, some of our artists have come together offering $15.00 sketch commissions, with $10.00 of the proceeds going towards the Tommy Raskin fund, and the other 5.00 going to our young artists (because here at COATA, we believe all artists of all ages deserve to be paid). To check out the project and commission an artist, visit www.coatausa.org or click the link in our bio to get started. IF YOU ARE AN ARTIST INTERESTED IN PARTICIPATING! PM us or join our Discord to learn more!

Jumping for joy as our tattered democracy lives another day under 46TH PRESIDENT JOE BIDEN AND FIRST BLACK WOMXN VICE-PRESIDENT KAMALA HARRIS.

As confirmed by CNN, The Associated Press, NBC, and more, Joe Biden has won with a total of 284.

COATA celebrates this victory with tears, laughter, and solidarity in knowing that our nation's fight is far from over; the basis of our founding far from just.

Today as you celebrate this victorious win, please remember our missing indigenous womxn; murdered trans victims; the countless black lives we've lost to injustice; and the flame for liberty that must continue to burn brightly in pursuit of an equitable nation.

Don't forget.
Continue to remember.
Never stop shouting their names from rooftops and challenging the violence indicted by systems that won't be righted unless we remain united.

And most importantly,
don't forget to tell someone you love them today.

Sincerely,
Community Outreach and Activism Through Art

Hello everyone! We're so excited for our Paint + Protest tomorrow and can't wait to see some of you there.

Although the protest is PEACEFUL, we always like to send out this reminder on protesting rights!

The city is also aware of this event so we expect no conflict.
