Today is "Founder's Day"!! On June 10th (or possible the 17th, if you are an historian), Bill Wilson met and talked for the first time with Dr Bob in Akron, OH. The idea that one alcoholic can help another alcoholic not to drink, one day at a time, was born. And today, we have a worldwide program of action called Alcoholics Anonymous (and countless other life-saving 12-step programs).

If you have the chance, treat yourself to a road trip to Akron; sit in the Seiberling Gatehouse where the above meeting happened. See the Mayflower Hotel where Bill was moved to pick up the phone instead of picking up a drink. Visit the home of Dr Bob, where Bill stayed for many months right after their first meeting together.

I hope everyone has a beautiful, sober, clean, happy Founder's Day!
And thank you, Malvern Center, for being a HUGE part of my own recovery. I will be making a special donation today. 🙂

Certified Peer Specialist (CPS) and Certified Recovery Specialist (CRS) training groups planned for Summer and Fall cohort. Some brief information on the two Peer positions; Certified Peer Specialists are individuals with personal, lived experience in their own mental health recovery. Certified Recovery Specialists are individuals with personal, lived experience in their own substance use disorder recovery. By offering insight into the recovery process based on their own experience, recovery specialists are able to provide a unique perspective while providing recovery support services. The CRS is not a sponsor, case manage or a therapist but rather a role model, mentor, advocate, and motivator.
