This is the reality when people dump their cats off in unfamiliar places. Can you imagine, say you were a little kid and your parents dumped you in the country or outside of a place that you had no clue where you were at. The confusion alone just about breaks my heart thinking about it...and then I can’t imagine how petrified these animals are as well. This cat was dumped outside my shop after hours. Unfortunately I didn’t no anything about it so he lived outside for two days before I put it together and checked my cameras. He was so scared that he would be at my rescue door every morning screaming for food but being so scared and confused, he would run away from us when we would try to catch him so we had to put out a live trap. We finally caught the scared fella and now for two days this is where he has sat. He is so shut down that we can barely get him to eat. He has to be in my quarantine room until I can get him into the vet to have him neutered and vaccinated. It’s a process to take in animals. I don’t think people realize what it entails to take in “just one more cat”. We have to have money, space and time for one more cat. It takes planning. I know people are falling on hard times. I know sometimes they just don’t know what to do. I truly feel everyone’s pain especially when all of us rescues and shelters are so full to the brim that we can’t take in any more but please, we need to work together by solving this horrible problem. How can you help me help stop this…a couple ways. One, adopt from a rescue or a shelter that spays and neuters their pets. Do not get FREE animals or from “backyard breeders” who are NOT spaying and neutering. I spay and neuter everything BEFORE it leaves me because that’s the responsible thing to do. Two, SPAY AND NEUTER! If you can’t afford to spay and neuter, call or message me. I will find a way to have your pet fixed free of charge. And three, if you do get a pet from someone or a “backyard breeder”, make sure you ask them if something was to happen to you will they take the animal back. Most all rescues take their animals back under ANY circumstances. The one thing that really irks me is that if you are bringing animals into this world, YOU should be responsible for them for the rest of their lives and take them back if something occurs in someone’s life.
I’m here to help but unfortunately I can’t “rescue” our way out of this. Spaying and neutering is the only way we are going to help animals from dying every day! And yes, animals die every single day just because there’s not enough homes. Please let me help you by spaying and neutering every animal walking.
