Recently I have been training another mustang. Mr. Peacock is very intrigued by this whole process. He is my little shadow when I am outside. His curiosity cracks me up. I guess it’s that same observant nature that keeps him from being eaten by predators. I wonder sometimes what he is thinking when he sees me working around the yard. The other day I was using a small hatchet to chop at the corner of a piece of wood. He was very intently, watching my hand and chopping motion. I think he relates my arm and hand to like a neck and beak. Anyway, what I was chopping at, was proving to be harder than expected, so when I had finished, I chucked the hatchet on the ground kind of hard in frustration. Mr. Peacock bolted over to that hatchet, and started posturing at it like it was a predator or a snake! I think while I was chopping at the wood, he was interpreting that I was killing something. Then said dead thing (the hatchet) was thrown angrily to the side. He does look at me as a flock member, so he ran over to the hatchet and began kicking and jumping at it while vocalizing a loud sharp chirp! He was going to finish it off for me! 🤣 Mr. P … My great protector!!! 💜
