We are excited to dedicate several opportunities for healthy living in Franklinton. The Town of Franklinton, in partnership with FOCUS Healthy Community Coalition, LSU AgCenter, Weyerhaeuser, Bogalusa Strong, Washington Parish Community Connect and the citizens of Washington Parish- support positive changes to pedestrian safety by continuing to provide safe spaces for citizens. These benches, physical activity and road safety prompts were dedicated on the 31st day of July, 2023. According to the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety, passengers accounted for 62 percent of traffic fatalities nationwide in 2019. We can reduce these numbers by empowering passengers to speak up for their safety in dangerous driving situations.
