Pawsitively Pugs Rescue is a North Carolina based 501(c)3 non-profit organization. PPR accepts pugs regardless of their age, temperment or medical condition.

Our mission is to help unwanted and abandoned pugs “Until Every Pug Has A Home.” Pawsitively Pugs Rescue is dedicated to the rescue, care, and placement of unwanted, abandoned, neglected and abused pugs, giving each a second chance at a loving and caring forever home.

Meet Pugsley! 🐾❤️

We cannot say enough wonderful things about this little heartbreaker! Pugsley is a 1-year-old PekePug (Pug/Pekingese mix) who found himself in rescue through no fault of his own.

His prior owner was a brave veteran who was seriously injured on a tour of duty. Unfortunately, due to his injuries, he was no longer able to care for Pugsley and give him the life he deserves. With a heavy heart, he made the selfless decision to surrender Pugsley to PPR so he could find a home that will give him the world.

Can we take a moment for this smile?! 😍

At 13 years old, sweet Mooscho unexpectedly found himself in a shelter, but his story didn't end there. Thanks to an incredible team of volunteers, he was busted out of "shelter jail" and is now safe in a PPR foster home!

His foster mom can't stop raving about what a wonderful, well-behaved gentleman he is. Who’s ready to fall in love with a senior? 🐾❤️

Update from Home: Celebrating a Milestone! In February 2026, Grumble, now known as Gus, was welcomed into his forever home by his foster mom. This week, he marked a special occasion - his birthday! His doggie daycare surprised him with a photo shoot, and we're thrilled to share these heartwarming moments with you, spreading joy to your family! 🎉

It is Forever Family Friday everyone!

Today we are excited to announce that our handsome baby Yoshi has found his forever family! Yoshi joined this amazing couple and he is getting properly spoiled. The couple has recently become engaged and they opted to put the new family member before the wedding.....a four legged furry one!

Update from home!

Two years ago a wonderful family decided to adopt a senior pug named Pugsley. Two days ago they celebrated his two year Gotcha Day and shared this adorable picture with us. Congratulations on two years in your forever home Pugsley!

Today is our favorite day... Forever Home Friday! We are delighted to feature our esteemed senior, Ginger, who has found her forever home. Previously turned over to PPR by a local breeder, Ginger underwent a comprehensive makeover, including spaying, vaccination, and dental care. She has now been welcomed into an amazing family, where she has quickly become the center of attention, particularly among the children. As her mother works from home, Ginger will receive abundant love and care. Please join us in celebrating Ginger's joyous transition to her forever home. Congratulations, Ginger!

Today, we are excited to share a "Happy Tail" update! 🐾

Hootie came to us from a shelter and tested heartworm positive. The rescue took care of all her vetting needs, and it wasn't long before she found her forever home—and what an incredible forever home it is!

Here are some pictures from her family vacation at the North Carolina coast. Look at that happy smile! This sweet little lady has truly found her perfect forever family, and we couldn't be happier for her.

Walter Update: A Positive Diagnosis and a Forever Home! 🐾💕

We are pleased to announce that the pathology results for Walter have been finalized. The tumor that was removed was deemed unusual, prompting consultation among three pathologists at the laboratory. Ultimately, the diagnosis confirmed our veterinarian's initial assessment: cancer. However, the encouraging news is that the surgical margins were clear, indicating that the tumor was successfully removed in its entirety. We are thrilled with this outcome.

Furthermore, we are delighted to share a significant Forever Family Friday announcement: Walter's foster parents have decided to make him a permanent member of their family! As an only dog, Walter, now affectionately known as Hal, is enjoying a life of indulgence and luxury. He even accompanies his new owners to work. As you can see from the before and after photos, Hal is beaming with joy, and we couldn't be happier for him.

We are actively seeking qualified foster families in the Raleigh-Durham area to support our rescue initiatives. Currently, we have a backlog of dogs in need of temporary care, and we rely on foster families to provide a safe and nurturing environment. Through our partnership with local veterinarians in Raleigh-Durham, we are able to provide necessary medical attention, and we also welcome foster applications from surrounding areas. If you are interested in opening your home to a pug in need, please submit your foster application through our website today.
