Why Opals 4 ALS? đź’™

Our name carries more than meaning, it carries our mission.

OPALS honors PALS (Persons with ALS) the incredible individuals at the heart of everything we do.

The opal gemstone represents what we see in this community every day:

✨ Hope
✨ Healing
✨ Strength & confidence
✨ Individuality
✨ Inner beauty
✨ Transformation

Because like opals, every person living with ALS is unique, radiant, and deserving of dignity and care.

And the “4”? It honors Lou Gehrig and his unforgettable words spoken on July 4, 1939:

“Today I consider myself the luckiest man on the face of the earth.”

A legacy of courage we carry forward in everything we do.

Can you spot the opalescent glow in our logo?!

She couldn’t stop smiling. 💙

Not because of the service…

But because of how it made her feel.

Seen.
Cared for.
Like herself again.

This is what OPALS is all about: connecting those living with ALS to beauty + wellness providers who bring more than a service… they bring humanity, confidence, and light into hard moments.

If you know a provider with a heart like this or someone living with ALS that would love a service, tag them below. ⬇️

Let’s grow this network together.

Opals 4 ALS is building an Opals Wellness Network to support families living with ALS.

We’re looking for compassionate providers who believe that small moments of care can make a big difference.

If you are a:

• Hair stylist or barber
• Massage therapist
• Esthetician or nail artist
• Spa or self-care studio

Your skills could help bring comfort, dignity, and moments of relief to someone facing ALS.

If you’re a Wisconsin-based provider who wants to give back, we’d love to connect.

đź’Ś Send us a DM to learn more about joining the Opals Wellness Network.

đź’™ Not a provider? Please share this post - you might know someone in the wellness community who would love to help.

Today is Rare Disease Day — a day to shine a light on the millions of people living with diseases that most people have never heard of… until it affects someone they love.

ALS is rare.

But the fight? That is fierce.
The community? Unstoppable.

At Opals 4 ALS, we stand for every family navigating uncertainty.

We stand for awareness.
We stand for research.
We stand for hope.

Because rare doesn’t mean alone. 💙

Join us in honoring the warriors, caregivers, and advocates who refuse to give up.

Today we remember Eric Dane and honor his fight against ALS. đź’™

ALS impacts more than one life- it affects families, communities, and futures. Moments like this remind us why awareness, advocacy, and support matter so deeply.

We stand with everyone impacted by ALS today and always.

When Amy was diagnosed with ALS, she quickly realized something was missing in how people talk about this disease.

We focus on research, on symptom management, on survival, but the emotional side and the way a person feels about themselves as the body changes often gets overlooked.

Amy started OPALS 4 ALS because she knows firsthand how much dignity, confidence, and human connection matter, especially when life feels like it’s slipping out of your control. Amy believes beauty and self-care aren’t just luxuries, rather they are tools of healing.

At OPALS 4 ALS, we connect people living with ALS with compassionate beauty and wellness professionals who understand their unique needs. These moments whether a haircut, a makeup session, a quick shave help restore a sense of self that ALS tries to take away.

Thank you for being here from the beginning. We can’t wait to share more with you. 💙
