Food banks across the country are seeing more families come through their doors.

NBC News surveyed food banks in 35 states and Washington, D.C. Nearly three in four said they’re serving more people than last year. At the same time, higher food and fuel costs mean every dollar has to stretch further to get food to communities.

No single thing is behind this. Grocery prices, rent, transportation, health care costs and changes to food assistance are all adding up at once. Neighbors are telling us this isn’t a short rough patch. In our recent survey of people who have experienced food insecurity, 81% said people in their community are dealing with long-term financial stress, not temporary hardship.

That’s why food banks are planning now for a longer stretch of need. Programs like SNAP and local food banks work best side by side, and both types of support must remain strong for neighbors.

One of our own is representing One Gen at the Nashville YP Summit on Oct 13! 💙

We're so proud of Daniel Hayes, One Gen board member and Supply Chain Analyst at Tractor Supply. Daniel will be speaking on a Young Leaders Council panel at the Nashville Young Professionals Summit at Belmont University, sharing his story of finding his place in the nonprofit world through One Gen.

Daniel is proof of what can happen when someone says yes to serving. We're grateful for leaders like him who carry our mission out into the community and invite others to join in.

Go get 'em, Daniel! We'll be cheering you on.

Columbia, we have an update for this Saturday. 🤍

Due to the remnants of Hurricane Isaias moving through Middle Tennessee, we've made the decision to cancel our Mobile Pantry distribution at Columbia State Community College on Saturday, October 10.

This wasn't an easy call, because we love being in that parking lot with you. But the safety of our neighbors, volunteers, drivers, and team comes first, and heavy rain and strong winds are no conditions for anyone to be waiting in line or loading carts.

So stay home, stay dry, and look out for one another this weekend. We'll be back in Columbia soon with full carts and big smiles.

Know someone who was planning to come Saturday? Please share this post so no one makes the trip in the storm.

📅 Watch OneGenAway.com and our page for our next distribution date.

No one unseen. No one hungry.

Autumn with Lola was everything we hoped it would be.

Thank you to every woman who pulled up a chair at Lola's table. There's something special about gathering around a table, sharing stories, and remembering why we do this: so every neighbor has a seat at the table too.

Here's a little glimpse of our time together, with more moments coming soon!

If you missed this one, there's always a seat saved for you. Stay tuned for our next Lola gathering.

Who comes to mind when you read this? 💙

Doorstep Pantry delivers quality groceries right to the door, at no cost, across 95% of Williamson County. The delivery is the easy part. The hard part is that most of the neighbors who could use it have never heard of it.

That's where you come in.

Maybe it's a neighbor who doesn't drive anymore, a friend between jobs, a single parent with no time to spare, or an older relative who'd rather stay close to home. Whoever came to mind, send this their way. A quick share or text could be how they find out.

Here's all they need to know:
