A huge THANK YOU to United Community Bank Foundation. Tim Eller and Jennifer Levesque from United Community Bank were at Cowee School Arts and Heritage Center this morning to present a check to Board Chair Anne Hyder and Executive Director Will Anderson. This donation will have a tremendous impact on the work Cowee School is doing in the community and we are so grateful for their generous gift!

If you have never attended our monthly Speaker Series, you are missing out on a very engaging evening! This past Monday, August 17th our speaker was Patricia Kyritsi Howard, author of the book Medicinal Plants of the Southern Appalachians. After a very interesting presentation, the audience had the opportunity to ask questions. Our next Speaker Series event will take place at 6:30 PM on Monday, September 21st.

This past Friday, August 14th we had an amazing group of performers at our monthly Open Mic night. The event is held the second Friday of every month. Come share your talent at our next Open Mic night on Friday, September 11th at 6:00 PM.

We’ll be selling books for Julie Reed at the Cowee School Arts & Heritage Center next Monday! Julie will be discussing her book, LAND, LANGUAGE, and WOMEN: A Cherokee and American Educational History as part of the Cowee School’s “Where We Live” speaker series. This is your last chance to catch Julie before she heads back to Oklahoma next month, so let’s give her one more great crowd.
