7️⃣ days until school starts

There are some great events happening this week to prepare families for the new school year.

On Aug 19, 2025, FCPS Superintendent, Dr Carter, while host another Boots on the Ground event. If you missed last weeks event you don't want to miss this one. District leadership answered questions about the long term sub issue, we dicussed the literacy concerns, teacher certifications and the upcoming school year changes for Franklin City Public Schools.

This one meeeting didn't solve all the issues but it highlighted the need for more in-school and out of school supports for our students to be successful and some of the efforts the district will be taking towards improving educational quality.

Parents please attend and come prepared with questions and comments.

Also open house/back to school night is on Wednesday August 20, 2025. Come out from 11am-1pm and 3-7pm meet the new principal, meet your child's teacher and drop off school supplies

Reading is beneficial in so many ways! Reading increases vocabulary, helps students think critically and is a fun way to stay entertained while learning something new.

8️⃣ Days before school starts🎉🎓

📣Let't talk about routines.

Routines are important to help families provide structure and stability, improve academic success, reduce stress, and build responsibility and independence.

This week lets start working on those rountines for school. S.P Morton starts school at 9:20 am however many of our bus riders have to catch the bus around 8:00 am or earlier.

It's suggested that elementary school aged children get between 9 and 11 hours of sleep. See the chart for recommended bedtimes.

When planning your family's routines
*Plan a morning, bedtime, and afterschool routine
*Add times for homework, studying,
reading, and transition times.
*Give them positive boosts in the morning
with positive affirmations.
*Allow extra time for unexpected slowdowns
*Include tasks that the children can do on
their own to foster independence.

on August 20th from 11-1 and 3-7.

It's 🔟 days before school starts and your S.P Morton PTA is here to provide you with tips to prepare for a great year as we countdown to the start of the 2025-2026 school year.

At 🔟 days before school it is the time to get those last minute school supplies. Review the school supply lists and check out the Back to School events happening this weekend and next weekend.

Also consider donating school supplies to the FCPS Stuff the Bus Event in the Walmart parking lot.
