We enjoyed an informative and engaging meeting this evening featuring Walter Denton, a 30-year Rotarian and the City of Franklin’s new Assistant City Administrator for Community and Economic Development. Walter shared updates on roads, infrastructure, City Hall, development, capital projects, and the ongoing efforts to thoughtfully balance Franklin’s continued growth while preserving the character and quality of life that make Franklin such a special place. Members appreciated the opportunity to hear directly from city leadership, ask questions, and gain a deeper understanding of the projects and initiatives shaping our community’s future. Thank you to Lawrence Sullivan for moderating an engaging discussion and Q&A session with our speaker. Thank you as well to Alderman Matt Brown for joining the conversation and contributing to the discussion. We also extend our appreciation to Anne Louise Sewell for the delicious Americana buffet, Jaclyn Ledbetter, Patrick Shairs, Robert Blair, and Christina McClary for Service Project updates, Kathy Reynolds for sharing information about the DFRC Foundation, and Jerome Bannister for his Rotary Foundation update.
We were also delighted to welcome our newest member, Rita Morgan, to the Downtown Franklin Rotary family. We look forward to her fellowship, service, and impact as we continue to make a difference in our community and beyond.
We are grateful to Walter Denton for his time, insights, and commitment to serving the citizens of Franklin, and to all who helped make the evening informative, engaging, and impactful.

from President Steve Bacon……..

Join us at the Williamson County Enrichment Center at 5:30 on June 1, 2026 for our next DFRC meeting! Our guest will be Walter Denton, the City of Franklin’s new Assistant City Administrator for Community and Economic Development. Walter brings more than 33 years of local government experience, including 23 years as City Administrator of O’Fallon, Illinois.

Walter will share updates on what is happening throughout the City of Franklin, including roads, infrastructure, City Hall, development, capital projects, and the broader efforts underway to balance Franklin’s continued growth with preservation of the community we all value.

This will be an excellent opportunity to hear directly from City leadership, ask questions, and better understand the projects shaping Franklin’s future.

We look forward to seeing everyone there!

We are deeply grateful for the many local businesses and community partners who helped make “Paint the Town Red, White, and Blue” possible each year on Memorial Day and Veterans Day in Historic Downtown Franklin.
A special thank you to Tony Hunnicutt, Bao Ngo, and Christina McClary for their leadership in guiding this project.
We encourage our community to support these businesses that so generously support our town and our mission of service:

A heartfelt thank you to our incredible volunteers who helped “Paint the Town Red, White, and Blue” by hanging and/or removing patriotic buntings throughout Historic Downtown Franklin for Memorial Day in tribute to those who served. We are also deeply grateful to the many local businesses and community partners whose support helps make this meaningful tradition possible year after year. Stay tuned for a sponsor thank-you post.
As we close out this project, we look ahead to our final service opportunity of the Rotary year—the Toussaint L’Ouverture Cemetery Preservation Project. We hope to see many of you there as we continue serving together.
This important service project continues the cemetery preservation work undertaken by Franklin Rotary clubs in 2020 and offers another opportunity to come together in service by cleaning headstones, clearing overgrowth, and helping preserve this historic site for future generations.

The DFRC Foundation was honored to present a check to The Refuge Center in support of the vital mental health services they provide across our community. For 20 years, The Refuge Center has ensured counseling remains accessible to ALL through discounted services and sliding-scale support.
Last year alone, they provided more than 41,000 counseling sessions to over 4,200 clients across 16+ counties, with many individuals living below the poverty level.
Thank you to our members, sponsors, and community supporters whose generosity through DFRC fundraisers makes grants like this possible and helps bring hope and healing to so many.
