There’s nothing quite like seeing learning happen right before your eyes, and for our 8th-grade science students, that meant watching new life hatch in their very own classroom.

Thanks to a Franklin Educational Foundation grant, the middle school science team had all the tools and an incubator ready to go, making it possible to bring this hands-on experience to life. Students didn’t just read about the gestational period of chickens; they experienced it firsthand. They carefully monitored the eggs and then witnessed the incredible moments when the baby chicks hatched. The excitement was contagious as students held the chicks, asked questions, and made connections to real-world biology. Experiences like this help deepen understanding, spark curiosity, and make learning a lot more fun.

We’re proud to support innovative classroom experiences like this that engage students, inspire wonder, and make learning unforgettable.
