(All photos © Jennifer Moran 2010.) In 2010, well-known surf company, O'Neill, donated over one hundred pounds of shirts and other clothing to The Nicaragua Project to be distributed when the team visited Managua. Three orphanages benefited from their gift, as well as numerous local children and families. The Nicaraguan economy is extremely tough, with the average citizen living on less than one dollar per day. MUCHAS GRACIAS, O'NEILL!!!!

(All photos © Jennifer Moran, 2010) Each year, musician and Nicaragua Project founder Gene Cotton takes about 20-25 Americans, of all ages and from all walks of life, to Managua to pitch in with his latest efforts to help the poor in Nicaragua - the second poorest country in this hemisphere. Team members stay in very basic housing with a small group of local families, who also help in the work, for a cost of about $10. a day including food. Current projects include rehabbing a barrio school and an orphanage in Managua. By the end of the week to ten days, the Nicaraguans and Americans become one big family!
