Animals in winter

During this extreme cold, you can help us keep an eye out for wildlife that have been affected in your area and need your help! If you find an animal in need of help during this cold weather, here are the steps that you can take to best help frozen, injured, or ill wildlife:

1. DO NOT GIVE THE ANIMAL WATER OR FOOD. This can cause serious medical concerns.

2. Prepare a cardboard box large enough to fit the animal (they will NOT need excess room to move around) by poking 20-30 air holes in the box and taping the bottom closed.

3. Lay a towel in the bottom of the box that is large enough to cover the bottom of the inside of the box without sliding around.

4. Grab some heavy-duty gloves to protect you and the animal.

5. Carefully lift the animal and place it in the box using gloves.

6. Once the animal is in the box, tape the box shut.

7. Place the box containing the animal in a warm, quiet area and avoid opening the box again.

8. Call 713-468-8972 to contact Houston Humane Society Wildlife Center to schedule an appointment or get help finding a rehabilitator near you.

Such a blessing on our Wild Horse Foundation Ranch to save a foal when abandoned by the mom. We found Easter by chance in out wooded area where she was born during a major storm.

Hay notice:
The past 3 months we’ve given out hay in unbelievable amounts to help those with horses since these wonderful people have lost there jobs. We’re getting dangerously close now to where we won’t be able to help anymore without getting donations in to secure purchases of more. We deliver to the individuals to help them. We asked they feed their family first and we’ll help feed the outside family. In 25 years we’ve never seen this. We can choose to be a part of making history or we can be a part of history. We choose to make history by helping us all to overcome this. If you can help us to help the horses, please email to: [email protected] or call us direct: 713-297-1397 or mail to: Wild Horse Foundation, P. O. Box 692, Franklin Texas 77856.
