The Franklin-Southampton United Way and James L. Camp, Jr. YMCA hosted a Financial Reality Fair for our last Student Wellness Program of the year at JP King Career & Technical Academy. Students received assigned careers, salaries and family sizes and visited stations manned by our volunteers to figure out their monthly expenses for housing, transportation, childcare, insurance and other items. All students visited a credit counseling table manned by Bronco Federal Credit Union staff to get advice and check-out. Volunteers encouraged students to make good choices to increase income, decrease expenses and have enough money for savings.
The Reality Fair was a success thanks to our volunteers from Bronco Federal Credit Union, the James L. Camp, Jr. YMCA, Solenis, Franklin Baptist Church, the Bank of Southside Virginia, the Hubs Vine, the Virginia Department of Education, and the United Way board. Thank you to the leadership and staff at JP King Career and Technical Academy for hosting us!
