Today I was able to visit Jimmy (Explosive Colin). He continues in training and is just an amazing horse bonded to his trainer, Katherine Biehn Bushong. Dream Haven Equine Sanctuary supports the few horses that came to us with youth and no disabling injuries and allow them to have a life with a bonded trainer in another discipline.

Our horses are upset. They have heard their humans talking that if all of you say you support but won't sent a penny then they will havevto look at closing the Sanctuary. How can humans that like us won't even send a Starbucks equivalent contribution. If you all don't care we are destined for a questionable future. Please help us by sending a few dollars to PayPal: [email protected]

Even with a winter freeze the refencing project continued. When we began Dream Haven almost overnight I had to buy a farm, renovate an old house, put up fencing and build a barn. The fencing materials were T Posts and 4 Gauge stretched wire. Over 4 years the horses have had their way with the fencing. This is our second year to budget for a second phase re-fencing of the 2 mare pastures. It is 25 percent completed. The crew has been incredible as besides the contracted work they stepped up to help with frozen pipes.

UPDATE: Only one pasture pipe/faucet broke. My dear friend who has a construction company had a farm knowledgeable plumber out with 2 hours. Problem fixed and with temperatures rising on a sunny day all water troughs were filled. In our bad girl pen one mare decided to get in the water troughand take a soak.

The insulated barn was a different story. The water manifold froze and broke. A week to replace. Thankfully multiple hoses can provide water to the barn.

The Winter freeze of the past week is over. Along with frozen pipes and faucets in the fields and the insulated barn, the warming temperatures have caused breakage. As the same is happening on many properties and homes, the plumbers are busy. Praying that the plumber I contacted can come out soon as some of the horse water troughs are low and we will be hauling pails of water from the house.
