Storm’s coming, so we’re in full prep mode! Our baby pines are getting the VIP treatment - think wood stands, cozy burlap wraps, and plant stakes for extra security. Bird feeders? Totally stocked, so our Carolina Wrens, Blue Jays, and Juncos can snack stress-free. Only thing missing: anti-static spray (oops, next time!). As winter settles in, many of our feathered friends flee for the tropics. However, one special visitor arrives just in time to embrace the cold. Meet the Dark-eyed Junco (Junco hyemalis). Often affectionately called "Snowbirds," these sparrow-sized visitors arrive from the far north just as the snowflakes begin to fall.
