Our Foundation is one of the pillars of the Lady Savant Society, a for-profit business that is
a platform and sisterhood for women entrepreneurs to grow and promote their businesses. (www.ladysavantfoundation.com) The idea for the Foundation grew organically from the business side as most of us are moms who wanted to give more! While the business side is focused more on women, the Foundation is only focus e d on one thing: Childre n. Our goa l is to he lp kids a round the world in as many vital ways as possible. For many children in developing countries, as well as right here in the US, things many of us take for granted are not readily accessible. We aim to provide children with the tools to make dreams a reality. In many cases, these tools can be something as basic as food and education. We recognize it is not an easy road for many, and are looking at ways to fight poverty and provide education to children on a global basis. Many times it can come from working in sync with local and grassroots organization on the ground in those countries. Statistics from the UN show that more than 30% of children in developing countries – about 600 million – live on less than US $1 a day. Every 3.6 seconds one person dies of starvation. Usually it is a child under the age of5. Poverty hits children the hardest. While a severe lack of goods and services hurts every human, it is most threatening to children’s rights: survival, health and nutrition, education, participation, and protection from harm and exploitation. It creates an environment that is damaging to children’s development in every way – mental, physical, emotional and spiritual. The Lady Savant Foundation is here to help.
