Summer Sendoff Campfire: Thursday August 27 at 6pm

Join the Lorrimer Sanctuary staff for a campfire summer sendoff!

We’ll be roasting marshmallows and making s’mores over an open fire while we tell tales of fun at summer camp!

We’ll be playing camp favorite games with kids and parents alike and searching for clues along the trails during our scavenger hunt.

Children must be accompanied by an adult; this is not a drop-off program.

What a summer it’s been. 🌈 today we tie dyed at our end of summer staff lunch, proving it’s fun for kids and kids at heart!

This season campers had a blast from tying their first fishing knots to building shelters in the woods and creating nature crafts from things they found on the trail. We packed camp with the kind of hands-on adventure that makes summer unforgettable.

To our incredible counselors, volunteers, and staff, thank you for showing up every single day with energy, patience, and heart. You turned ordinary days into extraordinary memories, teaching skills campers will carry with them long after summer ends. We are so grateful for this team and everything you poured into our camp family.

Now we’ve got one week left, our Greatest Hits Week, where we’re bringing back all the best moments to relive the magic one more time before summer wraps up. Here’s to finishing strong! ☀️💛

Thank you to everyone who joined us at the Celery Farm for our Summer Bird Walk on Saturday! This walk was lead by our Youth Birding Mentors, trained volunteers that have completed our year-long mentor program and lead bird walks in the community.

It was a great day with 22 species spotted including Wood Ducks, Northern Waterthrush, and a Belted Kingfisher!

Our next bird walk will be at Lorrimer Sanctuary spotting fall migrants on Sunday, October 4th.

Summer Stargazing ✨

Clouds tried to steal the show, but we still caught a few hopeful glimpses of the Perseid meteor shower peeking through! 🌠

Between breaks in the sky, we traced out Cygnus and Ursa Major, plus spotted some satellites.

Grateful for everyone who came out and looked up anyway — that’s what star gazing is all about. ☁️🔭✨
