🍎🐦 Our first field trip of the season was a hit!

Yesterday we welcomed 85 7th graders for a day of birdwatching, apple c***r making, and learning about native reptiles.

Our new Winifred M. and George P. Pitkin Foundation Education Center made it possible to host a group this size. It served as a home base for lunch, offered excellent birdwatching from the rooftop deck, and provided three accessible public restrooms. We're grateful for this flexible space to serve our community!

A big thank you to PSEG for supporting the Wings to Wonder program, which funded this trip and busing at no cost to the school. We're proud of partnerships like this one that allow us to continue providing quality environmental education to all.

♻️🌼 Today our little naturalists learned all about recycling through stories, crafts, and games!

These cuties, ages 2-5, practiced sorting paper and plastic and made take-home reusable bags decorated with smashed flowers.

🐦 Is your bird feeder due for a scrub? Join us Friday, 10/9 for Bird Feeder Cleaning Day at Lorrimer Sanctuary! Bring your feeders and we'll get them sparkling clean for just $5 per feeder.

Clean feeders matter more than you might think. Dirty feeders can spread diseases like salmonella and avian conjunctivitis, and damp seed can grow harmful mold. A regular cleaning keeps your backyard visitors healthy and coming back all season long. 🪶

Planting natives supports local ecosystems, feeding pollinators and wildlife while building habitat right in your own yard and buying from Lorrimer Sanctuary helps raise funds to support your favorite nature center too. 💚
