🎉 Celebrating FRYSC Week by honoring lasting leadership! 🎉

Today we’re proud to celebrate Lawrence Powell, Site Supervisor at Evarts in Harlan County, who has hosted an AmeriCorps member since at least 2011 — making Harlan County our longest-standing documented FRYSC AmeriCorps partner.

For more than a decade, Lawrence has provided steady leadership, mentorship, and support to AmeriCorps members serving students and families in his community. That kind of commitment doesn’t happen by accident — it happens because of leaders who believe in service and show up year after year.

Thank you, Lawrence, for your dedication to FRYSC AmeriCorps and for helping build a program that lasts. 💙

🎉 Celebrating FRYSC Week by celebrating leadership! 🎉

Today, we’re honoring Angie Daniels, Site Supervisor at Kingston Elementary in Madison County, who has hosted an AmeriCorps member every year since 2014 — more than a decade of commitment to students, families, and service.

As a FRYSC AmeriCorps Site Supervisor, Angie provides guidance, mentorship, and steady leadership that makes AmeriCorps service possible. Her site supports both a Literacy Tutor and a Youth Member, helping students thrive and families stay connected to critical supports.

This is what long-term service looks like.
This is what community leadership looks like.

Thank you, Angie, for your years of dedication to FRYSC AmeriCorps and for showing up — year after year — for your school community. 💙

Drop a ❤️ in the comments to help us thank Angie and all of our incredible site supervisors!

🌟 AmeriCorps Member Spotlight 🌟

Meet Kayla Householder, a FRYSC AmeriCorps member serving at West Irvine Elementary in Estill County—and making a difference that lasts far beyond the school day.

Kayla has a bachelor's degree from Eastern Kentucky University, majoring in Behavior Science, with a clear purpose:
to build children’s resilience in the face of real-world challenges.

Every day, she shows up for students with consistency, care, and belief in who they already are—and who they can become.

Her favorite quote says it all:

“Don’t worry, I’ll meet you where you’re at.”
We’re proud to have Kayla serving with us—and even prouder of the impact she’s making alongside students and educators every day. 💚

Katrina is doing great things for the students at Clark Elementary in Paducah.

Mrs Franklin, our FRYSC AmeriCorps Literacy Tutor, had a fun day of reading The Night Before Christmas to all her groups of students. Many told her they’ve never heard this story before! 😮 It was a wonderfully festive day!

November and December showed just how lucky Trimble County is to have such incredible people serving their students and families. 💙
Jaiden Beatty and Sandi Felker serve with FRYSC AmeriCorps in Trimble County with the Trimble Family Resource Center. In partnership with the FRC, they helped build a meaningful Veterans Day program, took the time to connect with veterans, and made sure every detail was handled with care. They jumped right in at the Reality Store, guiding students through real-life lessons that sparked understanding, laughter, and some powerful “aha” moments.
They also played a huge role in supporting families through our Winter Wear Fair, holiday food support, and an amazing elementary school food drive that brought in over 8,000 food items. Even more meaningful was how they involved students in serving others, helping them understand why this work matters.
FRYSC AmeriCorps is so proud of Jaiden and Sandi and the heart they bring to Trimble County every single day. Their dedication is making a real difference—and it shows.

🌟 Member Spotlight: Meet Kadara Skinner! 🌟

We’re proud to spotlight Kadara Skinner, a Youth FRYSC AmeriCorps member serving at Estill County Middle School.

Kadara’s favorite part of service? Helping children — showing up every day for students and being part of a school community that comes together when there’s a need.

Her impact reaches far beyond the classroom. Kadara has:
• Packed food boxes for families during the summer
• Shared recovery resources at a community recovery rally
• Led students through the Teddy Bear Fair, exploring careers in healthcare
• Participated in Toys for Tots
• Completed 52 volunteer hours at the local hospital

Outside of service, Kadara stays active playing sports, hiking in the beautiful foothills of Appalachia, and capturing moments through photography.

Looking ahead, Kadara plans to attend Eastern Kentucky University and is on the education pathway. She joined Youth FRYSC AmeriCorps because she loves learning new things, trying new opportunities, and building meaningful experiences with students and school staff — all while serving her community.

We’re incredibly proud of Kadara’s leadership, heart, and commitment to service. She’s a powerful reminder of what’s possible when young people are given the chance to lead.

💙 Thank you, Kadara, for all you do.

🌟 Member Spotlight: Meet Ella Baker! 🌟

We’re thrilled to celebrate Ella Baker, a Youth FRYSC AmeriCorps member serving at our longtime partner Teen Focus Youth Services Center at Ballard Memorial High School.

Every day, Ella shows up for students and families who need a little extra support — making sure they have clothing, school supplies, and food that would otherwise be out of reach. Her service is more than tasks. It’s dignity. It’s belonging. It’s care made visible.

Ella says she loves her community because “they can rely upon each other.”
And through her AmeriCorps service, she’s strengthening that very spirit of trust and togetherness.

We are so proud of Ella — her leadership, her growth, and the impact she’s making right here at home.

💙 Thank you, Ella, for helping build the kind of community every student deserves.
