Who better to improve career exploration than students?

The new Careers in Your Community Challenge by the U.S. Department of Education invites high schools to propose solutions that improve career exploration at their schools. Submissions are due by Nov. 19, 2026 at 6 p.m. ET, and up to 10 winning teams will receive an equal share of the $50,000 prize pool.

As AI and other technologies reshape the job market, students need career guidance that reflects changing workforce needs while helping them discover opportunities in their own communities. Student teams will design new solutions that help peers discover local careers, education and training programs and work-based learning opportunities.
